What do you do w/your leftover stickers?

Crazy as this question may sound it is a true concern. I have several sheets of letters and numbers that I've used through the years but can't use them any more b/c I'm missing an E, or A or R or S or another common letter. What do y'all do when you get in this situation? I had a great layout using the bold gold letters from CM but was out of the E and A. Thankfully my good friend and CMC had these in her stock and she let me have what I need but I would have been in really big trouble if not. I always write down what I want to say, check my letters to make sure I have them but many times I will be missing one or two letters and have to go out and buy a new pack. What do ya'll do in these situations?

Another question on the same topic....I bought a BUNCH  of Disney stickers, borders, accents etc for my album from our trip last June. Some I've used, some I've not openned the pkg. What do ya'll do w/the stickers, borders etc you've purchased for a particular layout that you don't need anymore? I think I can take the unopened pkgs back to Michael's where I bought them but not sure since I don't have my receipt. However, not sure what to do w/the partially used sheets. It's doubtful I'll need them anymore so is it ok to offer them here?

Comments and feedback is welcome!

I was just going to suggest that you swap them with a friend or group of friends. Or have a Dis "leftover stickers" swap? Or maybe there is a place you could donate them?

If you want to find a way to use them up, consider making up a page title using different fonts/design in the same word. I have seen it done on TwoPeas and it looks neat!

As far as things like Disney stickers, considering that we will continue to visit Disney throughout the years, if I don't use them now, I might use them in the future, so I save them.

Also, I would definitely return any unopened pkgs to Michael's....they are very good about returns (at least around here) even without a receipt. You will get store credit, which you can use to buy more "stuff"! HTH......P

This subject has come up a couple times on the DIY Scrapbooking show.

For the letters: If you can create a whole word out of the stickers but not the entire phrase, just do each word with a different set. The examples they showed looked really neat! If you can't create a whole word, they also used letters from different sets & put them on other shapes - like squares or mini round tags. It sort of reminds me of the Sizzix Ransom alphabet when it's done. KWIM?

I tried to find the episode link, but wasn't too successful. The search only showed 2 hits, but I didn't see what I was looking for.

The swap idea sounds like a good one. I'm just not far enough with my Disney album to know what will be leftover to participate, though.

Donating them sounds good too. I know there are multiple groups that collect pages for Make-A-Wish trips, but I think I saw one that also took donations of paper, stickers, etc and then someone else makes the page.

I have used left over ABC stickers on school layouts. You can make those z,q,w's in to blocks and then used them to embellish your school pics. You can even use them in a border randomly for school too.

We are suppose to have stickers left over ? :teeth: I use everything. Mix them letters up girl. Makes a cute wacky looking scrap page.

I always had a bunch of x's, q's, and r's left over. Drove me crazy! Now I have a sizzix and I don't have any leftovers because I only cut what I need! :teeth: I also don't ever run out of a letter. :teeth:

I'm going through a bottle cap phase right now so I've been using my circle punch and punching my leftover stickers and then putting them inside the bottle cap (which I flattened first) and then using paper glaze to make it shiny. did this with a bunch of disney cm stickers I had. Turned out pretty cute. :) maggie

For alot of letters that "look" similar I will alter the letter ie Rs can become Ps and Ks can become Ys in a few sets if I just need one or more. I am quite a horder of ABC stickers as I scrap out of order and I hate to use the "same" next to eachother and well with 30+ sheets the odds are rare :) As for reg stickers I just store them if there is any chance Id use them or donate them to younger kids who like to "scrapbook"

I was thinking of a sticker swap too but I just could not think of way to put it together. I'm in if anyone has ideas!

On the DIS Collector's board we used to have threads where we would post what Disney pin(s) we still needed/wanted. It was amazing who had a pin someone else was looking for. We could do the opposite & post what stickers, borders, embellishments we have that we don't need/want. One man's trash is another man's treasures :)!

After completing our trip to Italy, I had some leftover stickers & posted on here. Someone was getting ready for a trip to Italy, so I found a new owner for my leftovers.

I have also altered letters to make what I need. It is amazing what you can make if you really think about it and study the letters that you have. Does it show? Once in a while, a little bit, however noone but you would probably ever notice! We are always most critical of our own work! :cool1:

Thanks for all these great ideas. I too can modify some letters like Ms and Ns, Rs to Ps, U to n etc. I've even use the let O for the number 0. And you're right usually only we can tell, not anyone else. I thikn when i get my album completely done, I'll post on here what stickers I have left over and it can be a free for all--first come, first serve.
Thanks again!
Karen

Hi I use my stickers on birthday envelopes then when I wrap something up in clear plastic, I stick them on too.

Another thought along with the envelope thing is now that monograms are hot you can utilize just the single letters :)

The new Creative Memories magazine had a whole article about what to do with leftover stickers. They cut them up to make page accents and borders and photo frames. One of my favorites took all kinds of different letter and number stickers and layered them on top of photo mats to make a frame. Really cute! :)

my plan with my left of stickers, scraps of paper, swap items I can't use is to make a date planner, (thanks to NICURN)!
I also give them to my kids.
