What do you do to pass time when your in a long wait line??

4. Make plans in my head (meaning planning anything from what i'm going to plant in my backyard garden at home to what ride to go on next)

Honestly, since we always have a sound touring plan in place we never wait in line for longer than 10-15 minutes. Since our waits are usually so short we usually just talk and interact with each other. The waits are part of our family togetherness time.

Play spot the details with architecture, look for hidden mickeys, make up imaginary stories about everyone else in line, talk about what else is coming up that day. With all of that I never notice how long lines can get.

Talk about the plans for 'after' the lines. I plan out the day and let them in on my plans one thing at a time. We aren't in line for long since we go in January.

I was worried about boredom creeping in standing in line the first time we went to WDW......so I got the hidden mickey books, found lots of trivia and such online (here and just searching around for trivia or scavenger hunt type things). Put it all on my smart phone categorized by ride.....and then we barely used it, lol. Ok, we do go at "slow" times so waits are 15 minutes or less for all except the truly big rides and those we do FP or don't ride if it's more than 30 minutes......but even those "long" waits we found it was fun just to talk about what we'd already done, what this ride was going to be like....talk with those around us, etc. Of course, my girls were 9 our first trip so it wasn't like having toddlers or such....for them, I've seen people bring bottles of bubbles for the kids to chase and pop, but I've also seen some rather hyper kids running into others in line and being annoying with chasing bubbles, so judge your kid before being a pain in line, lol.

Seriously, Disney does a great job of making the line que interesting....even when you've gone through the line a few times there is still something you missed. I think only someone with little patience at all would find the lines truly boring.....not fun, yes, as everyone would rather just walk on each ride, but not nearly as boring as waiting line at the grocery!

look for hidden mickeyz, play the disney abc game, talk about what your goin' 2 do next, talk about dinner/lunch/breakfast, play on your phone, look at the decorations, sing disney songs! that's all i got; hope it helps!

I usually buy a ball the lights up when you bounce it. I can usually do that for a while. On our last trip there was a trivia question written in chalk at the bus stop that kept us plenty busy since the answers can be different every time. The question was to name a disney character for each letter of the alphabet.

I have a great app on my iPhone that gives you the wait times on rides in the park. We study that to help decide to stick to our original plan of attack or see if we need to change it up a bit. Have fun!

I do everything quoted above plus talk and make jokes with the people I'm with.

If the line is near store windows I window shop too. I think "That hat looks ugly but ooooo I want that shirt even though I know I won't buy it."

This is in addition to eavesdropping on loud neighboring conversations, and possibly joining in neighboring conversations as these people are generally nice and enjoy these expanded conversations and they often jump into our group conversations too.

us too. And sure its probably horrible, but we also sometimes come up with elaborate plots and stories about groups around us, who secretly hates who in each party, who is driving the group crazy. Its good times.

That is funny I do that too sometimes. I know it is bad but it sure can be interesting!

(Haven't tried this at Disney but I used it when I worked for the YMCA and led a Kids Kamp group at a similar theme park.)

Each of the kids had a lanyard (those plastic ones that use colored plastic string that you weave together) that they had clipped to their belt buckle/backpack/etc and they would just pull it out and go to town while we were in lines. Then when it was time to get on a ride they just clipped it back on and were ready to go. I brought extra sting with me for when they finished too. Then when they were done with one they can keep them, trade them with friends, or give them as gifts. I would say this kept them entertained about 90% of the time we were in line!!! It was awesome!

I'm sure this would also work with the friendship bracelets that you knot and braid together too. Hope this helps
