What do you do on your last day???

I do as little as possible. We will take the luggage to TCD check in at LBV asap then have a lazy breakfast/lunch then perhaps shop (did I really say I may go shopping!?!?) but only because we have a later flight than previously

We should have a day left on our USF/IOA tickets but it is very unlikely we will attempt a park, we will be just ready for home and I think the shock of a park then the plane home in an afternoon may just finish me off! I need time to adjust to leaving and my last morning does is for just that

MK :)

We like to do the DTD check in to get rid of our cases as much as anything; much better than having to lug them through the airport :)

Relax by the pool and remind DH of all the things we havent had time to do this trip and convince him we must come back next year ;)

Mostly we try to ignore the clock and spend most of the day explaining to the kids (3 and 4) we could not come back to the Magic Kingdom tomorrow :(

This year was our first with a car, DTD check in and a 8pm flight. Combined this means our last day was as fine. Bags dropped off, checked-in then we went off to MGM and EPCOT taking in the last few hours.

Headed to the airport at 5.30, feeling like we had a good last day for once and making a mental check-list of things to do next time....

On our last full day this year we are doing discovery cove for the first time and really looking forward to it - it will be good to chill out there and wind down a bit. the day going home i am undecided about DTD checkin... the flight is at 18.15 and we have a car to return, if i remember rightly don't i have to return the car about 3 hours before flight anyway???? if so might as well just check in as normal...? although i do worry about the luggage being in the boot all day, you never know, so don't know what to do. If, like before, have to get to airport about 3pm. I'm usually in a really grumpy mood, cos facing the enivitable of having to go home i just want to be home and it just takes so long......before we have done last minute shopping at DTD and also gone to toys R us to get the kids back home some prezzies. i may just do the early DTD check in so i am not worrying about the luggage and go somewhere else for a few hours.

You do have to get to the Airport a few hours before your flight, your documentation should say what time you need to return the car.

We use DTD check in, to be honest anything that means we can get rid of our bags is a big plus on the last day, it is an advantage not to have to arrive at the airport fully loaded.

Last time we went to seaworld on our last full day but this time we're planning to end in MK, seems like the right thing to do and a nice way to unfortunately end the holiday with 3 kids, just a shame it couldn't last a little longer but very greatful for the time we have and can't wait to go. :sad2:

Decided to use this thread to ask if travellers who have booked PE on Virgin use the DTD check-in facility. For our holiday next month we have reserved PE seats for the first time. On other trips we have used the DTD check-in, but we have been wondering if it will actually save time this year as we assume that PE travellers have a seperate desk at MCO, and thus less queueing.

Another aspect of this is that our last week will be spent on the west coast so we have to travel across on the Saturday morning. We will have a spare day on our WDW tickets so we intend to set off very early and will most likely go back to a park until mid-afternoon. We think it will actually waste time by going to DTD beforehand, but would be interested to hear other views.

Thanks.

We didn't have a car on previous trips so we've usually packed, stashed the cases in the hotel then wandered around I-drive til the shuttle came (did Ripley's last year) Next year since we're staying onsite with a car we'll probably pack the night before, do DTD check-in and hang around DTD til it's time to leave for the airport, maybe do Disney Quest but i'm not sure if I could do another 'real' park.

Were you a PE passenger? That's what I'm seeking views on.

We flew back PE last week and we did use DTD check in, just personally find it a big advantage getting rid of the suitcases early although you are right in that in theory the queue's at MCO should be lighter.

To be honest though I would still use DTD, especially as there is a seperate queue for Premium Economy, we arrived there just around 0830 and we had checked in by 0850, so I guess whichever you choose there shouldn't be a long delay for you.

I think this service is a personal choice for each family. We found it a complete waste of 1 hour as we don't mind leaving bags in trunk all day and find checking in at airport a doddle. We still want to be at airport 2 1/2-3 hours before take off to look around shops (last pin trading in Disney shops), eat, security etc.
Other people find it a realy good service.

Johnny,

I was hoping you might reply, as I knew you had used PE. I couldn't recall a seperate queue at DTD, so this is good news for us. We will set off early from Clearwater and get to DTD asap so that we have as long a day as possible before going home.

It is my preference because I'm not keen on leaving all our luggage in the car, whether or not it's in a WDW parking lot.

Thanks very much for your reply.

John

Try and not think about the envelope that is hanging on the door :rotfl2:
as we charge everything to our room key
boys had a ball last year with they cards in the arcade

Last year we had a lovely last day
It was mothers day there so we went to the mothers day lunch at epcot and then do our usual thing crazy golf, and if we have time some last minute shopping on the way to the airport usual have to buy an extra case as well

No problem, there is definitely a seperate PE queue, and we were right at the front....also when we arrived home our cases came off first.

I think using the DTD check in is a personal choice, for us it works and we much prefer getting rid of the cases, mainly as we tend to have a lazy last day and spend our time at the villa or around the Florida Mall.

Last full day we hit everyones favourites at Disney & prob visit all 4 parks.

Last day Packing!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry. It was just that the previous post was six weeks before my enquiry today. I had made the thread a favourite until I wanted to ask the question and assumed you were replying personally to me. Anyway, as I expected, Johnny came up with the answer I was looking for, so all is well.

We never used to bother with DTD check-in. I'm a nervous flyer and could never relax and enjoy the last day, so we were always at the airport in good time and never had a problem checking in there. The more I fly, though, the less nervous I have become, so we have been using the DTD check-in facility recently (maybe 4 times).

There are separate Premium Economy desks at both DTD and at the airport. It's a bit hit and miss at DTD, though. Often it's a free-for-all, although, to be fair, we've never been there when it's been busy. At the most there have only ever been a handful of other people checking in, so we've never had to wait long. When it gets really busy (which, from comments here and from friends and colleagues who have used it, I know it does) perhaps they do operate clearly defined separate lines.

At the airport, there are cordoned-off queues. Again, they do take Economy passengers at the PE and UC desks (which makes sense - there's no point having check-in clerks sitting there doing nothing whilst people wait in the queue), but because you are able to join a dedicated queue, they will always call any waiting PE passengers ahead of Economy passengers. I find it frustrating at DTD because it's one of the selling points of PE which they promote quite heavily, but unless you are comfortable speaking up, you won't necessarily get the benefit of dedicated check-in.

It might be worth taking a poll of times people tend to check in at DTD. As I said, we've never experienced the huge lines that others talk of. We usually arrive sometime between 10 and 11am. Maybe it's busier when they first open. :confused3

In May, we decided to check in online and that worked well. Of course, it does mean you have your suitcases with you all day (which has never really been a problem for us) and you do have to lug them from the car rental drop-off across to the terminal building, but we didn't have to wait at the online check-in bag drop. We were able to arrive at the airport around and hour and a half before our flight and still have time for a pre-flight cocktail in the Hyatt Lobby Lounge. :thumbsup2
