have another one of those coming up within a few wks - no plans - DH is having a houseful of guys to play a Halloween D&D game - already told him noone is staying the night and we're going for dinner (if he's capable)
but what should I do during the day? Shop?

shopping is always good...do something that you like to do that your husband doestn and enjoy the day..

i had classes on my bday this year and then i went to curves and did nothin else...but happy bday!

Nothing. It was just another day for me. My dh isn't so good at organizing stuff like that. I do feel badly for my dd since she likes to celebrate family birthdays and her dad just doesn't get into the spirit.

It's my tradition to take the day off of work and do what I want. (my birthday was one week ago) My DH, DS, and DD know not to schedule anything for me that day. If I want to stay in my PJs all day watching movies or get up early and travel somewhere special to shop or be a tourist I do it.
Then it's takeout for evening meal and I can say "what a wonderful gift--thank you".

Same here :D

DH and I are only 2 days apart birthday wise. We always have a family celebration the weekend before. On the actual days we really don't do anything. We're even past the part of big gifts and instead treat ourselves to our vacations etc or something special fr the house.

Same with our anniversary. Today is the day and I've got a card waiting in DH's lunch, but we got our presents weeks ago when we decided we wanted the limited edition DVC watches.

A brithday is just another day to me. I enjoy sharing all 365 days of the year with my DH.

We go out to dinner. Whoevers bday it is gets to pick where they want to go. Usually it is to Red Robin's or Logan's. One year DS picked Taco Bell!! Then we usually do cake afterwards and have my mom or inlaws over.

I take down our Christmas tree. I also go after Christmas shopping with my kids and my parents, and they take me out to eat.

Well, my 30th was just a couple Friday's ago...and although I had big plans (wanted to anyways), I was broke...so didn't do anything but work, although he did take me to TGIFriday's.

On Saturday tho, hubby got paid, so he sent me off to get my hair done.. first time I've ever spent $100 for a haircut n color..YIKES!! Then...I had to go get tires changed...fun. But, then I got to go to downtown Atlanta and eat at the Hard Rock Cafe. But, we were home by 9pm, so went to bed! I'm old now...need my sleep, LOL
On Sunday, we bought me a car :) My volvo was broke, but paid 1100 for a little Ford Aspire, and had it towed home the next morning :( So..now I"m broke again, and have 2 broke cars.

30 has been fun, lemme tell ya!

My b-day is this Saturday. The past 2 years, the family has taken me (and them) out to dinner at Ichiban's - a restaurant in Minneapolis, that from what I hear is very similar to Teppanyaki.

But this Saturday, my DS has a soccer tournament in the morning and I have to work (Kitchen Show) in the morning too.

Then we are going to my mom's for a birthday dinner with my whole side of the family. Mom's making dinner...steak, mahed potatoes, broccoli, okra, some sort of cake...yum!

Being that it's a week after christmas (Jan 2), I don't do much.
I work in accounting and up until 4 years ago I used to work, even if it landed on a weekend.

My birthday is right after Christmas so usually we dont do anything special. Last year we did happen to be in WDW because the previous year DH forgot it so he had to make it up to me. :teeth: But more often than not, its just another normal day, and we may go out to dinner on the weekend after, but that depends on when the holidays fall.

Hey Newholiday! I play D&D too. Do you play or just your DH?

For my birthday, being that it is so close to Halloween, we usually go to Salem, MA and just walk around and see the sights. Sometimes we'll go to one of the museums or something. Last year my friends had a Halloween/Birthday party for me.

This year, we will probably just go to Salem, but we'll see. We're going to WDW Dec. 1 so we are trying to save as much money as possible for our trip.

My birthday is 4 days after Christmas. People are broke and trying to get their NYE plans together, so I get the shaft. Usually we just do dinner and a movie. My Mom takes my sister and I to a show for my birthday present. I think we're going to see 42nd ST or Thoroughly Modern Millie.

My 30th is this year. I have a suspicion my friend's NYE party is going to double as a 30th bday party for me.

Well this year for my b day I locked myself out of the house with the ice cream, since dh was in europe I picked middle ds up from school and he broke into the back garage door. I just take myself shopping. My dh is the most unromantic person I know. I might just say take me to (whatever) restraunt. My birthday is also our anniversary so I get 2 nights of no cooking, that is about it. We dont do the present thing. I generally dont like anything he picks out so he has learned not to waste his time. I just pick out what I want and say, oh thank you for buying me this and show it to him. Sometimes I will get a card if he has time to shop. I would like a movie, but it seems nothing good is ever showing when its b day time. Well enjoy your day!!

my birthday is the week of thanksgiving, so i take time off, and visit my family (for thanksgiving too). we usually all go out to dinner.

this year, they're visiting me, so we are going to go to the national museum of the american indian and then go out to dinner downtown. :)

I buy myself a present, make a cake, and take myself out to dinner. even when I was married.

WELL...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :bday: :cake:

Me, well, just had one not too long ago...it was just another day basically. We were out of town and I just relaxed. It was nice, but ho-hum...as usual.
