What do you do on departure day?

I know this is not for everyone but we get a late flight and book an extra night at the hotel. We then don't have to check out at 11 am and store our luggage, etc. We treat the last day almost like any other day. Late afternoon, we clean up, pack and prepare to depart. For the cost of an extra night, we feel like we get another full day. As I said, it's not for everyone but it works super for us.
This sounds awesome, but probably zero chance I could get my H to agree to pay for another night😂

If you ever leave on Sunday, the brunch at Cali Grill is amazing and mimosas are included as are bloody Mary's. (The bacon that goes in the bloody Mary's is amazing.) This is our fav breakfast but no go right now due to Covid, of course.
I 110% agree with this, that brunch is amazing and on DW and I's list for every trip now that we've had it. I am just hoping it's back before next March when we're going again.

Yes - this is what we do. In March it was a lifesaver as our flight on Monday was cancelled and we flew out Tuesday morning. Hotel was sold out so we would have been out searching otherwise. Our flights typically leave at 6pm or so when we do that.

Also, the airport hotel - I think Hyatt - has day rooms. I booked it for my son's girlfriend. We fly out at 2pm and her flight is at 6pm. She will go with us to the airport and then hang out in the room during the day til her flight. She can check in for her flight with us, too. That might be an option. I think check out for day rate is 6pm

Our first trip, we drove down and spent the last day in HS. We left after the afternoon parade.

Second trip, we stayed at BWV and spent the afternoon in Epcot. We did end up skipping lunch because the lines were long and we cut it too close to ME time.

The trip, we spent the morning hanging out at AKL, where we were staying. We really liked the animal viewing areas at Kidani Village.

The one time I had a late departure I was sooooo bonkers I couldn't enjoy myself. Sure I went to a park in the AM, then went to Disney springs for lunch, but I was soooo stressed about something going wrong, I didn't really have any fun.

The past couple trips we've left ridiculously early in the AM, which is a stress I can handle.
This was us as well, we sleep in then resort hop and or ride Disny transport for fun like the skyliner or monorail to get lunch. Go back to the hotel get our things. I like making the last day really chill, we are normally so tired. Kids always ask to swim but it's hard traveling with wet clothes but we have done it before.

We drive but have enjoyed some departure day plans of this kind. We typically like to give ourselves time to sleep in and finish packing and then do a late breakfast/brunch…like a character meal or something similar. Our kids like to eat early, so last breakfast seating or first lunch. Then we hit the road!

9 times out of 10 I do a park on departure days. I like to do MK so I can say my Goodbye till next time at the castle. I've done other parks on departure day but it just doesn't seem right. LOL
