So I'm so very excited about going that I can barely get anything done if it's not trip related... and I've got months to go!! (We're going Sep 6-13)

But I was wondering... Does anyone have suggestions on what to do on arrival day? Boyfriend and I will be getting to Pop Century, hopefully, sometime around 1p. Should we venture into a park that day? Or maybe we should just try and do something relaxing and have a nice dinner...

Suggestions? What does everyone like to do their first day there? Thanks!!

It depends. If you have APs, you might as well go to one of the parks. If not, enjoy your resort, check out some of the other resorts, or go to Downtown Disney.

Given that your arrival date is a holiday, I would expect the parks to be crowded.

We ride the Monorail both Loops. When we have the kids we do Chef Mickeys. When we don't we do DTD, or tour the resorts & go to a more Adult resturant.

If you have an AP or a length-of-stay pass, go to a park. If not, then consider what has already been suggested, or rent a boat, bike, or play mini-golf.

We usually just take it easy and plan on doing a nice dinner someplace.

You guys could always hit Pleasure Island in the evening, going mini-golfing or even hit a water park for a few hours.

Once, we had every intention of doing a park, having dinner, etc...but then our flight was delayed, car rental line too long and we missed it all. It was a bit disappointing because we had been looking forward to it. Now I just do a PS for dinner at a resort and we either do mini-golf or Downtown Disney.

Have a GREAT trip!

You have a week and a day- and the first and last are usually not 'whole' days. We normally relax, but we do 2 weeks at a time. If I was there with limited time I would go to a park that day if your admission media allows for it.

Take a few hours to rest from your trip (maybe a nap), then hit Epcot. It is a huge park and absorbs crowds easily, so that would be a good choice for a few hours. My .02 worth.

Blessings

Since you are staying at Pop Century, go to the Passporter Guide Book website. They have a scavenger hunt that you can print out and then do at Pop Century. I printed it out for my family to do on our arrival day.

I tried to search for the Pop Century scanvenger hunt. Looks like to need to go to their update pages.

Also, you can rent surrey bikes at Pop Century.

Go out to a nice dinner at a resort. Some place that you really would like to go to but it would take too much time on a regular park day.

We're planning on heading straight over to Epcot when we arrive (hopefully around 11am)--but then again, we have length of stay passes so it would be a waste not to!

I usually am coming from California. But sometimes I am coming from another location (Once from Georgia, once from Homestead Fl.) so I am usually arriving in the late afternoon / early evening. I usually just spend time checking out my resort and haveing a nice dinner. I try not to do any PS's as you never know if the plane trip will be delayed or such. Sometimes I will go to Downtown Disney if there is time.

We are staying at the Ft. Wilderness Cabins, so the afternoon we arrive, I am going to go to Walmart and buy some grocery items and then come back to the cabin and decorate it for Halloween, and that evening we are going to eat at Trail's End Buffet and then check out the resort, and also do the campfire program and movie that evening. Because the rest of the trip we will be trying to do all kinds of other things I thought that our arrival day would be the best day to take advantage of some of the things our resort has to offer. BTW, these things are open to any guest staying at the WDW resort.

We literally drop our bags in the room and head for the parks. Unpacking, who has time for that? We need to feel the magic! ::MickeyMo

I agree with you Sugarmouse. It's off to the parks we go! Have a great trip!

We always get annual passes. We always walk over to Epcot on our arrival day.

It never hits me that I am in WDW until I am looking at the Magic Kingdom. If you have length of stay passes I would go to the room (if ready) and chill out for a little while. Grab a quite lunch and relax. Then in the evening I like to go to MK and watch Spectromagic and Wishes. We usually grab Caseys for dinner and maybe a Dole Whip for desert. We do no rides - just hang out on Main Street and enjoy the scenery.

If you do not have length of stay passes - if it were me - I would eat dinner at either Kona Cafe or Ohana's at the Poly and then hang out on the beach that night watching Wishes and the Electric Water Pagent Parade.

we usually go to the grocery store for snacks and drinks in the room. then hit Logan's steak house for dinner, just because we love that place and they don't have them in New England at all!! then we either go and watch the electrical water parade at one of the resorts or mini-golfing or down town disney!!

have a great trip!! can time go any slower for us?

:teeth:

We usually arrive sometime in the early evening (TOMORROW, btw!) and generally check out the resort, especially if it's one we have never been to. At night, we may go to DTD/Pleasure Island.

if you have legenth of stay passes then go to the parks. if not just being onsite at the resorts can also be fun and relaxing at the same time.

whats more relaxing then having a drink and relaxing by the pool. it doesnt get any better the doing it by a disney pool. if you need to get out you could always go resort hopping.

have a great time at whatever you choose to do!!

We always check in at the resort, then head over to MGM. If we need our AP's, we get them there and then go to the Brown Derby for lunch. We love the cobb salad and the delicious ice tea...

Almost time to leave....:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
