What do you do when you first arrive at disney, we normally reach our hotel about 4pm and normally just have dinner and unpack. This time we would like to do something else but would like to save going to the parks until the next day so we can spend a whole day there. What do you suggest. :cloud9:

Hi Gemma - this will be our first trip....we plan to check in and as we are staying at POFQ....take a boat ride to DTD and eat....thinking about Fultons .....but then again, we may not be able to resisit the lure and head off to WDW to catch wishes!!

I would suggest a visit to Downtown Disney/Marketplace.

Otherwise, maybe a monorail trip stopping at each of the three hotels for drinks and/or shopping.

As we leave home at 6am to get to Gatwick, we are always tired when we arrive, so we would usually unpack, have a snack (after 2 meals on the plane a meal would be too much) and go to bed.

This is my second trip and so now is the time to think of things which will become tradition (if I can persuade the family to go again!). Last summer we spent our first full day at MK, I just had to stand at the bottom of Main Street and get a good view of the castle before I could believe I had finally arrived in WDW!

This trip I'll be going alone and will be spending my first full day at MK again. I really don't know how tired I'll be this time as obviously I'll be doing everything myself - lugging luggage about and driving from the airport. If I am not tired when I arrive at the resort, I'll head off to either Disney's Boardwalk or DTD for an ice cream at Ghiradelli. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

On the first evening we don't go to any parks - we like to "save" them for the next day when we are refreshed and ready!

We would normally just check in (usually at least 6pm) and then go and grab a bite to eat (usually offsite)

Our first trip we headed straight to the Magic Kingdom and had dinner with friends at Tony's, we watched the Main Street Electrical Parade and Fantasy in the Sky :)

The second trip walking around the Boardwalk and grabbing dinner at Beaches and Cream.

Our Third trip was a repeat from the second LOL

Plans for April are exploring the Wilderness Lodge and some dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe...although this may change LOL :)

On our past two trips after checking in to POR we headed straight to MK for the evening :)

Depending on the park hours, we usually check-in at the All Star Sports, then head straight over to Epcot with a quick meal in the American Adventure or China, but if MGM Studios was open late we would head for there. If we are staying off-site we would go to DownTown Disney.

Downtown Disney to soak up the atmosphere as the sun sets over LBV.

Oh to be there now - I can almost smell a coffee from Ghirardellis or the cinnamon at Disneys Days of Christmas according to DW.

We always dump our stuff in our room and race straight to the pool! After that we go out to eat, usually somewhere very local (walking distance).

It usually depends on how tired we feel. Last trip we didn't get to the villa till after 11pm, due to flight delay - so we went straight to bed. Other times we've gone for something to eat or dh will go out and bring in something from McD's or BK.

I've never had the energy to head straight to a park or DTD!!!!! :D

First thing we do? Check in, then head to Chilis for boneless shanghai wings :teeth: But nobody will be surprised by that answer LOL!

When we arrive, we unpack a few things, get changed into cooler wear, and mooch over to the local shops for essentials, and a bite to eat,we then come back to the hotel for a early night, and rise around 5am THIS HAS BECOME TRADITION and open the hotel room door and be over come with SO MUCH EXCITEMENT! we then have showers and head off to the park we have on our itineray! Boy this is making me miss dis even more :(

Well, we don't stay at Disney (don't really like the disney parks with the exception of MGM) so we stay on site @ Universal or on I-Drive. THe first thing we do after collecting the car is to stop at Walmart to stock up! After that it's onto the hotel, check in, unpack, shower then out we go for something to eat, usually at Chilis, Tony Romas or the Hard Rock Cafe :)

After leaving the airport, head for the 192 to pick up Villa keys and then off to supermarket for food shopping so the kids can choose some of those awful, sugar laden breakfast cereals! Then off to the villa to see the kids screaming through the house leaving a trail of clothes as they hit the pool while my wife and I unload the car.

First full Orlando day this year will be a Wednesday - not decided which park to hit yet!

:jumping4: First place we went to was Sea World on our last visit. Will be doing the same in 3 weeks time. :earboy2:

Depends on where I would be staying and what time we arrived. Being a bit of a lardy I don't sleep on planes so I'm usually not too lively by the time I clear customs, get bags, drive to accommodation etc.

If I was off site, then just grab something to eat, maybe grocery shop ( if in a villa) and unpack (maybe jump in the pool).

If onsite, and it was fairly early, depending resort either take a trip to DTD or Boardwalk soak up a little atmosphere get something to eat and trot off to bed. I've done stuff like take the kids swimming while my ex unpacked (she prefered to be able to do it without being interupted by the kids), go to the supermarket to stock up on supplies/brekkie/drinks .

Generally I didn't plan anything, just get there and see how we all felt. Trouble with trying to do anything is, by the time you factor in checking in, unpacking, travelling to wherever, doing something for even just an hour, travelling back you're going to be looking at 9.30-10.00 ( or 3.00 AM UK TIME) at the earliest. I'd much rather get to bed early and wake up the next morning feeling ready to take on the parks without any of the group looking/feeling/behaving like they needed a few more hours of sleep.

Don't stay onsite so the first thing I do is get to know what's around the hotel, it's nice just to get into the holiday frame of mind, no rushing about. Look to have a nice meal and definitely have a few cocktails to wind down after the stress of the Airport, then an early night so we can start the next day nice and early at one of the parks, usually Universal for the adrenaline rush of IOA!
