What do you do about TABLECLOTHS?

My dining room table is 102" long fully extended, and only 36" wide. I just bought a tablecloth that is long enough, but it is far too wide. It hangs well below chair level.

Does anyone know where to buy long, narrow tableclothes...or any other suggestions?

Linens and Things used to sell banquet table tablecloths. They would be more narrow. Another option would be to fold part of the cloth under so it hangs at the proper height. I have the opposite problem, my table is 54" wide and most table cloths are 56" wide.

Golfgal, most of the ones I've found are 60 or 70 inches wide. I bought a 60" wide cloth for our "youth" table (DD12 has asked me to stop calling it the "kids' table") and it's about the right width for my dining room table. Now I just have to find one long enough. It looks like Penneys might be my best bet.

A cheaper option might be to go to the fabric store. You can get fabric in different widths and just buy the length you want. Has selvage edges and then you would only have to hem the edge at the ends.

I have done this twice to get the colors I wanted. Works great and is cheap.

I often use a twin size flat bed sheet. You can get them in wonderful patterns/colors and they wash and dry wrinkle free!

I found this. They probably won't be able to get it to you for Thanksgiving, but it would be nice to have a couple on hand. They have some 54x120's in stock. They make custom sizes, too.

I finally gave up on tablecloths and decided to use a runner and placemats.

I just thought of another idea-check out the curtain section at whatever store. The curtain panels would be about the right size.

I got tired of trying to find the right size tablecloth - so I opted for placemats instead!! No folding, no wrinkles, they are just the right size.....
