I'll be nice and not say what I call my MIL and my my sister-in-law well lets just say sometimes its not pretty. I call MIL by her first name always, I don't refer her as mom because I have my mom already and nobody else will ever be called mom.
Yet another one here who tries to avoid calling my MIL anything, but when I do have to, it's her first name I use. I don't know why, but I am very uncomfortable calling her by her 1st name?
My FIL...I never addressed him directly with a name while talking to him. When referring to him talking with others, it was by his first name. I was never comfortable about the mom/dad thing. I had my own parents for many years, and I suppose I feel like that's a special title for them!
I sort of fit into the category of "trying-not-to-call-them-anything"........
But then I would be in the category of calling them by first names.
Very rarely I would say "mom", when trying to get her attention during a
get together..........
I will soon be visiting daughter and new SIL (he is 22). I wonder what he will call me, or should I ask he call me "xxx" ..............
I think it's easier if you just tell them to call you whatever you want to be called. My MIL would not have me call her Mrs....she hated that! Just let him know what you want to be called. I'm sure it'll make him more comfortable.
