What do you call these: Flip Flops, Thongs or something else?

I call them flip flops and I don't wear them as I find them very uncomfortable.

Thongs are underwear in the UK.

We called them thongs when I was a kid, but now thongs are underwear, and I call the shoes flip flops.

I also wear them almost everywhere but work.

It seems to me I called them thongs when I was little, though. Maybe it's a regional thing. I was born and raised in Michigan and now live in Kentucky.

Used to call them thongs growing up. Since I have had a family, for some reason I now call them flip flops. Thongs now only have one meaning to me.

I also don't wear those as they are very uncomfortable. But I love my Cleo Crocs which I also consider flip flops.

Those used to be called thongs or flip-flops with equal use.

Then thongs became underwear so now if someone says thongs they think underwear but in the past it was these shoes. Took a while for the shift.

Of course, now my DD is a gymnast and a flip-flop is a gymnastics move so those shoes are used all the time in the gymnastics world as a play on words for doing a flip-flop.
