What do you buy at the grocery stop?

I am going to assume that you are a child, so I'll go easy. It is when you stop at a grocery store and purchase groceries. You probably have one of the stores where you live.
Hope this helps.

DeniseD A grocery stop is when, if you are getting transported by either towncar, luxury van, or limo, some will make a complimentary stop at a grocery store (½ hour) so you can pick up a few things for your vacation. This will be the 1st time we are doing it and will be using FL Tours.

Thank you Disneyolic for not making me feel as stupid as loyd did! I never heard of this. I am taking the mears and I am assuming that this is not offered with them, or else I would have heard about it.

DeniseD No, Mears does not have the grocery stop. We have found that it is actually cheaper to have a towncar or, in our case with 8 people, a luxury van from FL Tours. Mears charges per person. If you have 4 people in your party at least, it may be cost effective to look into the other companies.

I think that loyd was trying to make a joke, tho I don't think it was funny.

Last time I was in Orlando (on site at Hard Rock Hotel) I went to Walmart to purchase breakfast items for an unexpected breakfast party and purchased a toaster for $6.24! We used it repeatedly the rest of the trip for bagels and sandwiches. While I'm happy we drove to FL, I think it would have been worth the investment even if I had to leave it behind because I did not want to bring it home on the plane. You can bet that the toaster is sitting in my suitcase waiting for my next trip. (Back to HRH in DEC!)

DeniseD -- I didn't know about the grocery stop either. When I originally booked our trip, I took the Mears transfer strictly out of habit. Then I starting remembering that I didn't like having to stop at all the different hotels or airlines before getting to our final destination. So when I booked a towncar I mainly just wanted to get a direct route to the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out they also offer a stop at the grocery store.

I'm glad I checked this board first since I hadn't thought about a styrofoam cooler. That solves my what will I do with the milk question. My list will probably include: milk, peanut butter, jelly, bread, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, snacks, water, juice . I hear there are toasters and microwaves available in the food court at ASMu.

To quote Dr. Possible. And individually wrapped snacks, such as cereal bars, raisins, and so forth. Love the indiv Parmalat idea someone posted, esp. the choc milk.

it's a twenty- thirty minute grocery stop, and you have to request it when you make your reservation with the service...oh, just saw you're going with Mears..ok, they don't do it. But you can pack some grocery stuff from home, and get your milk, juice, bread, donuts(Entemenn's?) at the gift shop at AllStars. It's a little more expensive than elsewhere, but not too bad.
I packed a toaster in our checked luggage, PB&J, quik, sugar, cereal, plastic bowls, plates, mustard, and mayo packs from MacDonald's(just go in and ask for some extra "McChicken Dressing") AllStars also carried packed luncheon meats, so sandwiches were OK.

T-roy, yep, there are toasters, and microwaves in the food courts, so easy macs will be that much easier...you may have to wait in line if its first thing in the am, to use them though.

But what's a trip to WDW without a line?!!;)

Thanks so much for all the help! I wish I would have known about the towncar sevice before I booked Mears. How does the saying go? "Live and learn".
23 days and counting!

The disposable sippy cups at Walmart are great.... BUT be careful that your children don't squeeze them! One little squeeze and the tight fitting lid POPS OFF. LOL

Great thread and helps me to make a list for our grocery stop. We're arriving late at night though and still not sure where our grocery stop should be (like what is the best store open that late). My worst fear is getting to a store, only having 30min to shop and being unable to find a styrofoam (or other) cooler to put all the stuff in! LOL

Did you already PAY for Mears? The reason I ask is that I used them on my last solo trip and I didn't pay until I got there and was about to get on the shuttle van... so you could change your mind now, right? Or did you pay in advance?

In addition to the disposable sippy cups (which I haven't tried yet) First Years also makes disposable infant feeding bowls. I bought a pack of 3 divided bowls with lids and 1 spoon for $2.50 at Walmart. They also sell packages of spoons and snack cups.

I am trying to decide between shipping a package to the resort and a grocery stop. I plan to rent a car. I will probably have to stop for a few things for the kids (4 1/2, 3 and 11 months) but thought if I could send a few items ahead it may make the time spent at the grocery store shorter. We are staying concierge so we won't need water, juice, milk or soda but we will probably need some baby food or other stuff for the kids.

I did get the disposable sippy cups, my Dollar Tree had them. And I also got the disposable toddler silverware. I don't know how I lived without them before. Disposable toddler silverware has to be one of the greatest ideas known to man!!!!! Thanks for all the help.

I love the disposable sippy cups! They work well in the dishwasher too -- wear down after several washes, but hold up pretty well considering.

Right now, Ethan is drinking about 1.5 gallons of Soy milk a week, so I purchased a couple of insulated sippy cups to keep his milk cool. Have you ever seen how fast soy milk curdles in warm weather? So nasty!

WHEN WE GET TO ORLANDO ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS WE DO IS GO TO THE GROCERY STORE.

WE TYPICALLY ONLY EAT OUT ONE MEAL A DAY. SO GOING TO THE STORE IS ESSENTIAL.

HERE IS MY GROCERY LIST:

HAM , CHEESE, BREAD, PRINGLES, CERAL , MILK , PUDDING PACKS, COOKIES, 2 LITERS OF COKE, CORN CHIPS, RAISINS , SKITTLE, SNACK SIZE BAGGIES, PLATES, PLASTIC SILVERWARE, DISPOSABLE BOWLS.

ONE LITTLE TIP -- IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE TIP FOR SNACK TIME. FILL SMALL SNACK BAGGIES WITH THE FOLLOWING SKITTLES, RAISINS, COOKIES, PRETZEL STICKS. THE COMBINATIONS OF SWEET AND SOUR SNACKS WILL SATISFY MOST AN CHILD. AND ITS CHEAP , CHEAP, CHEAP . THE WAY I LIKE IT.
