What do you bring?

When we went in Jan (our first DVC trip) I packed lots of nonperishables: granola bars, cereal, coffee filter packs (less mess), tea, cocoa, microwave popcorn, peanut butter & jelly (squeeze bottles), cookies, cheezits, etc and then when we got there, I just went to the SSR store and bought the cheese, bread, cream, milk, etc. We weren't making big breakfasts but it was good to have something to eat in the room...I figured the extra cost of the perishables was offset by not buying so many mickey bars ;) !

And the added bonus was that on the way home, I had more room for souveniers!

Good luck!

We have a 2 1/2 YO. We drove and packed everything we needed for the 10 days. We brought non-perishables...cereal, snacks, bread. That way we could eat breakfast in the room and lunch during his nap time. Saved a ton of $$$ this year only eating out once or twice a day.

The rooms usually have more then enough room to make a little pantry, plus it was nice getting some stuff on sale before leaving.

We go to SuperTarget to get ...

Water (I like those huge fridge dispenser ones.) I can't deal with FL water.
Water (bottled water)
Milk
Breakfast stuff (bagels, cereal, Zone bars) for quick breakfasts
Lunch stuff (we eat most lunches in the room) Bag salad stuff, tuna, pb & j, etc.
Fruit, yogurt, and a few other snacks
Popcorn (We usually get at least one free movie from the Community Hall.)
Maybe a supper item or two (frozen meals, pasta, etc.)

I would rather spend a bit of time at the beginning of my vacation doing that kind of shopping than spend time/money/calories in the restaurants. We'll maybe have a few special meals during our stay, but for the most part we do meals in the room or counter service.

We don't bring anything from home except what we anticipate using on the trip. We buy all the condo food there or have it delivered. I think we used wegoshop last time. Whatever service we used was hard to get in touch with but they were super nice and did a good job getting our order there on time.

We used to eat some dinners in the condo to save money, but not any more. We spend so little time down there the time lost is not worth the little bit of money saved.

We buy lunch stuff for the days we won't be in parks -- the lunches there are so overpriced and so full of carbs and fat. Breakfast stuff helps us get to the parks quicker. On the days when we're not in the park we eat some of our breakfasts out -- or get pastries if we're at the Boardwalk.
