What do we think of La Hacienda de San Angel???

La Hacienda has become a must-do for us again after a few years off due to inconsistent food and service. I’m happy to say that on our 5-6 visits back this year, the food has been on point and the service amazing. Some highlights are definitely the queso fundido, guacamole, osso bucco, and chicken enchiladas. Of course the margs are great too. Ask for Miguel as your server, he is wonderful! And if you like spicy, request a side of their house hot sauce (not the salsa that comes with the chips) - it is for real hot! A little goes a looong way!

I personally love San Angel. I know the foods not as good as La Hacienda but it’s decent, and how often can you eat next to a volcano? The atmosphere can’t be beat, and we tend to pick Disney restaurants on atmosphere and theming more than food. You can get great food anywhere but that Disney theming is unique. We like to eat lunch at San Angel so the contrast of the bright outside sun and evening theming inside is greater.

Just dined at San Angel Inn for the first time since I was a kid for some snacks and the queso and guacamole were very comparable to la Hacienda. The queso had more onions and peppers on it and the guacamole came with chicharonnes. Same salsa and chips as Hacienda. Margs here were also delicious. Can’t comment on entrees because we just had the apps. Service was very slow and inattentive- we waited a good while to order and then also to receive cutlery and napkins. Ambience is charming.
