I know, I know….these movies are talked about a lot. But I went to the Harry Potter store in Chicago yesterday, which is what inspired this poll. Some of us here are HP nerds, like me, and others haven’t seen a single movie. I live with 2 people that have not seen any HP movies, so they were clueless about everything in that store. I keep trying to get them to watch them with me, but they have no interest. So, I’m wondering how many of you are like me and have seen all the movies, and how many of you are like my DH & DD21 and have seen none of them. Before we discuss that, let’s see what all the movies are and their release date….

Now that we’ve seen that, we can discuss what movies we have or have not seen. So brush off your wands, put your house robe on and tell us today…..

Which of the Harry Potter movies have you seen?
(multiple choice)

*For Fun….post which movie is your favorite

For Me……I’ve seen them all multiple times. I’ve also read the books 3 times. I was late to the HP party - I read all the books in 2009 and after I read each book, I watched the movie the next day. My goal was to be caught up to see The Deathly Hallow part 1 in the movie theater and I was successful with meeting that goal. I went to the IMAX at Navy Pier, Chicago (it’s no longer there) to see TDH part 1 and then again for part 2. Watching TDH part 2 on a huge IMAX screen was AMAZING!

My favorite movie is The Prisoner of Azkaban with TDH (part 2) being a close second.

The Sorting Hat was there to declare what house you are in. That was fun! I’m Hufflepuff of course 🙂👍🏼

I’ve read the books and have seen all the movies multiple times. :)
Everytime there is a Harry Potter movie marathon on, I get sucked in.

My two favourite movies are the Deathly Hallows part one and two.

This one's easy. I'm right there with Kevin and Katie, have seen none of the movies, have read none of the books, and really no desire to do either.

Glad you were able to get in town to the store. Is it on Michigan Avenue? Any special restaurant while you guys were here?

I read all the books and loved them. I watched the first movie and thought it was ok, not nearly as good as the books and I didn’t watch any other movies. In general I struggle when a book I like is made into a movie. The movies rarely if ever live up to the book in my opinion.

I've seen them all, and read them all, multiple times. :jumping3:

Favorite (of both formats) is probably Sorcerer's Stone - for the initial impressions of the Wizarding World.

I'm definitely what you'd call a Harry Potter nerd.

I've not seen any of the movies, but I have downloaded the audio books that were recommended to me. I haven't listened to them yet, but I plan to do that on my next camping trip. I'm usually not a fan of fiction so I'm not sure I'll make it through even one, but I plan to give it a shot just to see.

Read all the books, have seen all of the films multiple times and I am looking forward to the new series. Like many series, this is an escape from otherwise dull existence. I should know, I work in DC at a Federal agency. The Ministry of Magic looks much more interesting.

We got to experience these books and movies as the kids were growing up. DD was 11 when the first movie came out and she had already read the book. When the 2nd movie came out, I could only get tickets for a matinee (all other showings were sold out), so I took her and her little brother out of school on a Friday afternoon and took them to see it. (The fact they got to legally skip school made it so cool for them!) But yeah... we spent years finding the new books as they were released and then going to the movies on opening weekends. She owns all the DVDs and books (I have a set of books as well). She loved all of it. Her brother wasn't as crazy over it, but he went along with it. We were pretty heavy into our annual Disney trips when Universal opened their Harry Potter attractions. So, a day at Universal to hit those attractions became part of the trips. We spent hours in line waiting to ride Forbidden Journey that first trip after it opened. :rotfl:

It surprised me how fast it fell out of popularity though, outside of that specific generation of kids. Most students I've had the past few years have never read it or seen the movies and have no interest in it.

I'm a huge Harry Potter book fan. I started reading the books when the fourth book was out. I spent the next few years reading and rereading the books. I even went to a few book release parties when each of the next books came out. I saw all of the movies but prefer the books.

Prisoner of Azkaban was the best one. I think it was closest to the book.

I read the first book when it was only available as the British version: The Philosopher's Stone, not the Sorcerer's Stone. Most of my family, including sibs and nieces/nephews, have read all the books. It makes for interesting family discussions over the holidays. We've also seen all the movies. I think my favorite book was Goblet of Fire. I liked all the movies... except didn't love Half-Blood Prince. I can see how it's important to the evolution of the story, but didn't love it. DH and I have also been to both HP venues at Universal.

Started reading the first one a few years ago. Was so bored with it, I set it down and never picked it back up. No movies for me, either. Not my genre.

I’ve seen them all multiple times too many to count I’ve read the books at least three times plan on reading them again
I’ve been to Universal Studios just to see Harry Potter absolutely loved the train ride
The half blood Prince is one of my favorites

I have seen them all. When my oldest grandson was younger, we went to all the movies together. It was a special thing for the two of us. I have read the books too, but I am no longer that interested in them because of the author's views.

I have been to the Elephant House in Edinburgh where they got their start.

Never read books, DD & DS#2 eventually did as adults.
Watched the first few, parts of others ~ all on tv, never in theater.
Visited the lands at Universal many times, explored and thought them so cool!
In 2021 whole family was doing Disney & Universal.
DH suggested we watch all the movies so land makes sense to him.
So one movie a night until done just before trip.
WOW, so much in those lands now made sense!!!
Also watched the Fantastic Beasts movies.
This is one reason I am disappointed in EPIC Universe.
The land was built for Fantastic Beasts ....
But the ride is Harry Potter.
Makes no sense to be there.

I tried to watch the first one, and didn’t even make it halfway through. It’s not really a genre I enjoy, although I know a lot of people do.

I am a huge HP fan. We are adults with no kids and had not read the books but when the first movie came out we saw it in the theater and absolutely loved it. We immediately went to the bookstore and got the first 4 books. We saw each movie in the theater and got each of the remaining books as they were released. I reread the books once or twice a year and see the movies at home also probably a few times a year. I saw the Fantastic Beasts movies but are not as into them. We have been to Universal Orlando and also the WB Studios in London as part of a HP tour.
