What do we need to buy/bring for summer visit?

We have a house with a private pool rented, so I know the obvious things like life jacket, swim gear, tonnes of sunscreen, sunhats etc...

But sometimes I see mention of things like personal fans, spraying water bottles, cooling towels? What sorts of these things do you recommend? Where do you buy them?

What other things are must-haves for in-park convenience/comfort? Anything you can think of, lol. Our plan is to just slowly stock up on these things over the next couple months.

The last time we bought a cooler backpack and it was great to keep water bottles cold. Rain jacket - it rains every day - not long but it rains. Sun hat like you said - sun glasses. We got my DH a waterproof fannie pack for his camera and wallet and me a water proof pocketbook. We go on more water rides in the summer and in case it rains and we don't have our rain jackets.

ziploc bags to waterproof electronics
rain ponchos, some people like the dollar store throw aways, I bought cheap golf type rainjackets that fold in fit in a little self pouch. I hate the no breathe feeling of ponchos
stick deodorant, travel size for feet and anywhere else that gets sweaty and rubs
sunglasses
sunscreen
small first aid kit with a few of the essentials
chapstick
small waterproof wallet

we pack light going into the park, so that is about all we take..lol

We take the misting water bottles for our kids, and also use Frogg Toggs towels. We bought those at Hibbett's.
Rain ponchos, sunscreen, and water. Drink lots of water!
My husband likes to take the Gatorade packets to mix with his water so he can drink Gatorade without having to carry bottles around.

Collapsible water bottles that you can reuse in the parks and they take up very little room.

We never go to the parks without our Platypus water bottles along with a Mio (or something similar) to flavor the water. :drinking1

While some people swear by these products I've used them all and have never liked them. The cooling towels with the crystals warm up in minutes and can get slimy and the misting fans are just spraying more water onto sweat and heavy.

My advice is wide brimmed hats (not just ball caps), collared shirts, sun screen, a water bottle at all times so you are constantly drinking and maybe something to wipe off your face and neck.

Also when we had the misting water bottles for our sons, they were a novelty for a few hours and then we had to carry them around.

We got some of the Brita filter sport bottles and hooked a carabiner to them. Fill them with free ice water from any QS place and hook them to a belt loop or purse strap. Hands free and cold water at your finger tips!

We never go without our Frogg Toggs!!! We bought them at Dick's Sporting Goods Store. We've used them the last 5 summers (all August trips). We rewash them each trip- no problems. Each person has their own and we store them in ziploc bags when not in use (but usually we have them around our necks all day).
ETA- didn't realize it wouldn't let me put up the name of the sports store starting with a 'D' lol:-)

When We go to DW it is always during the hotter months. I can not stand the heat and humidity. So, I have tried many tips from the forums. The ones I found helpful are the following:

- freeze some bottles of water over night. Place them in your back pack for the park. (Place in glad Baggie if worried about condensation) The cold from the bottles is a nice relief on the back. Also, you will have really cold water to drink when you have finished the water you started off with in the park.

- my favorite is to bring some glad bags to the park. When it starts to get too hot, go to one of the soda stations and ask if you can have some ice. Place it in the Baggie and you have an instant ice pack. Placing it on the neck is supposed to be the best to cool your body.

- frogg togs. I love these. In order for them to work, you have to follow the directions. I also would not buy the knock off versions. I periodically will go to the bathroom and wet them again and snap them to reactivate the cooling.

- I like the misting fans that DW sells. They are durable but more important the opening to put the water in is big enough to put ice in. With ice water they are refreshing but you do have to refill them frequently to keep the water cool.

- I know people mention hats often, but for me they just make my head hot thus making me hotter. A like to use a visor. They have some cute Nike visors for women.

- if it is possible schedule a break at either a TS or QS dining location with air conditioning. It really helps to cool down and relax.

- The last tip is to freeze a wash cloth and place in a Baggie with ice. Bring to the park and use when need to cool off.

Have a nice trip.

I agree with the Frog Toggs suggestion. They were very helpful in August. Also, we purchased a couple mister fans at Disney a few trips ago and just bring them with us every time. :)

i bring a personal fan. i have in the past bought the misting fans on property but found they are bulky and can leak if you fill it too much. A personal fan is small enough to carry around the neck without rubbing or getting in the way most of the time. i can put it in my pocket or handbag if i find it does get in the way.
