We use these misting fans - small and have a carabiner. Just refill from your water bottle. I got ours at
Walmart, but I have seen them at D|ck's and on
Amazon.

Everyone has a lanyard with a sealable pouch or change purse for money & tickets.
EVERYONE has a brimmed hat, even the teen boys. I refill the small bottle of sunscreen with a carabiner from a bigger bottle, and clip it to a beltloop.
The guys wear their hiking shorts with huge pockets for:
~ cheap disposable rain ponchos (good for several uses, but they smell if they don't get dried somewhat quickly)
~ moleskin for blisters
~ a few bandaids and alcohol wipes
~ granola bars
~ flavor packets or Mio-style flavoring for the water fountain
~ acetaminophen, ibuprofen, bonine, excedrine in the tiny bottles
~ chapstick
We have carabiner clips with water bottle holders on them, or make your own water bottle holder from a 7/8" rubber o ring and 1-2 yards of 1" wide ribbon. It goes over one shoulder. We usually have two water bottles for the four of us to share. We figure we all have the same germs.

Everyone has some type of water shoes - either Keen H2 sandals (multiple styles) or mesh hikers with drain holes. We have sneakers and sandals for when we're not at the parks, and no flip flops.
Other park day items:
~ body glide or other anti-chafing stick applied every day
~ detergent pods for the washing machine (we bring minimal clothing and do a load every couple of days)
~ aloe gel for sunburns
~ extra cards for the cameras
Always bring a cardigan and a pair of long pants - you never know when the weather might turn soggy or cool, esp after dark.
I always travel with nightlights for the bathrooms / hallways in an unfamiliar condo / hotel room.
