for digital cameras as Christmas Gifts -
I would like to get my sister in law one and maybe dd (if I don't get a new one and give herthe old one )
I don't want to spend a fortune...

It can be so overwhelming at first. I would say first set your price limit then check out your choices. Don't go less than 3 megapixels and an optical zoom of 3x is a nice feature (about 105-110 mm). Compact flash and SD memory are cheaper so cameras using those will save some money.
Both my mom and I have a Sony and have been very pleased with these camera (she has a 4.0 megapixel and her camera is a bit smaller; I have the 3.2 megapixel and mine is a bit bigger).
I am getting my daughter a digital camera for Christmas. I am considering the Sony Dscp 100. It is 5.1 megapixel and is a very small camera. On Steve's digicam site, it is rated very good and easy to use, with capability for more proffessional use.
I've basically decided to get a Power shot I think its 75 and I think its from Canon- My mom has the same one and I really like it- Its about 200 and its a 3.2 with a small zoom, uses AA batteries
Hi pattit
I just got a Kodak Easy Share camera yesterday as a matter of fact. This is so simple to use and understand I was using it within 10 mminutes out of the box.
Got mine at www.digitalfoto.com I paid 101.00 and it came within a day I was floored it showed up so fast.
However Walmart ad came today and they have the exact same one for 88.00 this week. Not sure if thast at all walmarts.
This camera doesnt need the dock... it comes with a cable to connect to your computer, so no other huge investment right away. If your SIL wants to upgrade to the dock they are priced fairly too.
Originally posted by welovemickey I have a Sony 5.0 Cybershot and love it! It's small enough to fit in my bag for t hose times when my 35 mm may be too big to carry around.
