what do so many of you buy 50 point add ons?

for instance the 150 points at one resort that were originally 50, now 150 because you banked and borrowed can only be conbined into a like resort at the 11 month correct. this banking and borrowing does not allow those banked points to go into a unlike resort at 11 months. correct? But you can more them together at 7 months. I thought maybe the banking and borrowing could allow you to move that 50, now 150 into an unlike resort.

All points are attached to only one Home Resort. That is the only resort where they may be used at 11 months - whether they are current points, banked points or borrowed points. At 7 months they may be used at any DVC resort to make a reservation. If you own points at another resort, they cannot be combined with points from a different resort until within 7 months - whether banked, borrowed or current.

If you own one contract of 160 points at one resort and you add-on 50 points at a different resort - those points will remain resort specific (whether current, banked or borrowed) until you are within 7 months.

We bought an 100 point add on because we didn't buy enough points for needs originally. 50 points was too small for our needs.

How much are add-ons for the sold-out resorts if you buy direct from Disney? I know that AKV add-ons are $104/pt but aren't the others slightly lower?

why 168 points, for a weekend ?

I want to say we did 56 points because we could do a studio for four nights in one...but that was a few years ago, so I could be off.

We started with a 100 point re-sale at BWV. Then added on 50 points two years later - paid cash for both. We don't like debt.

This year, I was dying for "more" points because we are always borrowing to take friends, so we added on 50 points at AKV. The idea was that we could spend a nice long weekend there before our friends show up for the 5 nights at BWV. (We only stay in studios) or we could do the "bank and borrow" and end up with about a week in a studio.

We also liked the idea that if we ever need to sell, the 50 point contracts would sell very quickly.

We just added 400 pts at BWV (our favorite). We bought direct and chose to break it up into eight 50 point contracts. Other than getting writers cramp filling out the paperwork (and hence making our return luggage go overweight)... there is no significant disadvantage as far as I can tell... and several advantages.
