What are you guys using for discounts on rental cars?

Im having a hard time trying to get a good deal even using bid priceline it seems high.

We got ours using a code from the Northwest WorldPerks website. Do you belong to any airline frequent flier clubs?

Entertainment book has some discounts; not sure how good they are, though.

I used codes I got from mousesavers.com when I went WDW. I live in Los Angeles so I don't need a rental at DL.:)

I have used hotwire.com before, I got a rental for $13.95/day . the only problem is they only cater to bigger towns/cities. It is worth checking out though. Also, if you have AAA you can get a good discount thru Hertz. Good luck and happy driving!:dance3:

I used Costco.com last year when I had to spend 11 days in Ohio. I received a great rate through them.:thumbsup2

thanks for all your answers

I booked alamo for including taxes for 6 days economy for 121.20 not to bad.

I found 25 dollars off for 5 or more days and 10% off if I prepaid.

Whenever we fly somewhere, we always rent a car.

Make a reservation on line for the best price you can find. It has to be with one of the major companies (Avis, Budget, Alamo, National). I almost always find the best deals through Costco.com.

So, make the reservation. When you make a reservation on-line they require no money or credit card to hold the reservation.

Print out the reservation. This is VERY important.

Take your print out to the car rental booths after you have arrived.

Now, if you are like me the company my reservation is with always has the longest line. Why is that?

Now take out your print out and go to the booth that has no line. Ask them if they will meet the price of your reservation that you already have with another company?

I have never had an agent tell me no. They have always said yes. Bottom line they are salesmen and want to sell rentals.

It saves so much time! No waiting in long car rental lines.

Of course this only works in airports where all the rental car companies are by each other. The first time I did this was at Long Beach Airport.

One more step to get to Disneyland faster! :cool1:

Good luck.

We went through the Alamo website, and got a pretty good deal. Then I had a coupon in the Entertainment book. Total for a week with a midsize in June came to $134. Which I thought was pretty good, people pretty much pay that to use a shuttle to the hotel!

I think you are a genius, Seattle-Tink. Why didn't I think of that?

Jen - Did you use the entertainment coupon in addition to the reservation rate? (In other words, did you bring the coupon to the agent's desk? or was it part of your online reservation amount?)
