Ok we are going for the first time to DW from August 28 - Sept 3 and I am worried about the heat!!! Any suggestions on what to wear? I need clothes in the worst way and with the summer stuff on sale here, I'm thinking of going out to see if I can find some good deals. Should I look at activewear? sundresses? HELP!

it is quite hot there in august! Last time we went we picked light weight breathable cotton tops, shorts, capri's. I don't wear dresses or skirts but we saw many in sundresses. My girls wore sundresses and plan to bring them again during our trip in just 9 days (wooo)

The light weight and breathable was perfect for the ammount of heat we incurred!

That is why I'm thinking activewear. I would think that would be more breathable than most shorts??? Ugh I hate clothes shopping, can you tell???

I wear either shorts or light weight cotton capris and a tank or halter top to the parks. In the evenings I usually wear a cute summer dress or dressier summer top if we go out for a sit down dinner. Its way too hot to wear pants. Oh and I recommend clothing made of natural fibers (cotton). Polyester doesn't mix well with the Florida heat and humidity.:crazy2:

A rain coat or poncho should also be handy, it is raining alot now a days in fl

Lightweight cotton or moisture wicking fabric. You WILL get wet, whether it befrom rain or sweat. On one trip I jumped up and screamed because I thought a bug flew down my shirt...it turned out to be sweat dripping down me:rotfl2:. We always go that week and it is the best week to be in WDW. Sure it's hotter than the surface of the sun, but you will walk on to just about every ride.

I like to wear skirts and a tee or tank top. I find shorts so confining when it's that hot. I plan on two outfits a day - one for the parks and one for dinner (after I shower). Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the tips! No polyester...lightweight cotton and definitely a good tip about two outfits a day! I will do the same for the kids! I plan on packing 14 outfits and I think I only own 5 so I need lots of clothes lol

A snowsuit and boots. Don't forget mittens.

;):laughing::lmao::rotfl:

I would just wear what you wear in the summer at home. It looks like you are in NJ. I would say the weather will probably be like it is in July there. So whatever you are most comfortable in at home will probably serve you well in Florida. Have a great trip!:cutie:

i would wear wicking active wear or hiking wear (looks casual but dries fast)....also anything dry-fit....is good....FL humidity is very thick in Aug.

I second the two outfit idea. We always take cotton or moisture-wick clothes. I wear shorts and tanks/tees and sometimes go a little dressier at night if we have a sit down ADR.

What to wear?

Wear whatever you are comfortable in. It will be hot and humid with rain showers in the afternoon.

Don't bother fixing your hair, just put it in a ponytail.
Don't bother with perfect make-up, you will just sweat it off.
Make sure you bring a couple pair of comfortable shoes/sandels ... switch off every/other day.

Unless you normally wear "tight" clothing, I would try to find something breathable and loose.

What to wear? Whatever is comfortable.

I agree with getting moisture wicking fabrics, found in the activewear section opposed to 100% cotton. I live down in Central Florida so I experience the heat constantly. 100% cotton is great but once it get wet (with sweat or rain) it has a tendancy to stay that way. UGH! I try to wear moisture wicking undergarments if I am not wearing moisture wicking clothes.

We are leaving in 8 days (YEAH!!) and I am planning on bringing capris, tanks, shirts, etc. Just regular clothes, but a couple more outfits than I brought for our trip last May.

twice and love it. Very low crowds. I went to Target and found the moisture wicking clothing in the work-out section dirt cheap right before we went.

Have fun! Last time we went the 3rd week of January.. I much prefer August.

As little as possible. :lmao: And, what ever you do bring one of those spray fans!!! They are like $18 in WDW (but worth every penny when we purchased it that same week a few years ago). We also freeze water bottles over night to have ice cold water the nextday.

That advice would have come in handy last December when we went. While there was no snow, it was colder than in Jersey!! Brrr....the heat may be welcoming after that trip. Ok maybe not!!! :lmao:

I totally know what you mean. We were there one January and it was 27 degrees! It was warmer in NY!

Another suggestion is if you plan on carrying a purse or backpack, bring a wash cloth or two to dry off. I never in a million years would have thought I would need to, but even my very fit/active children had sweat running down the back of their shirts/shorts.

Also, try not to buy something that is a little big as it will become "very big" by the end of the day. Your shorts will be all wet around the waist and also your bra's.

Powder. Pack the Powder, and then pack an extra. We all worshiped the powder at the end of the day and after showers.

Have a great trip!!:)

We're leaving in 8 days too :cool1:

safe travels!

I am personally glad to hear THAT! It's been really rough here in Oklahoma since about mid-June. We have had 50 days with 100+ degree weather. From what I understand, it's cooler in Florida than it has been in Oklahoma!
