OK I am kind of a cooking idiot but I was going to make some frozen green beans and I thought that there might be a way to season them to make them a little tastier. Any ideas?

I like butter and a little dill on green beans and butter with crushed Ritz crackers on yellow beans.

I cook them in chicken broth instead of water
they will be really tasty if you try this

i add chopped dill and some balsamic when their cooked. Delicious!!

Put a little butter in a frying pan, add the green beans and sprinkle some Italian flavored breadcrumbs over them. Keep turning until the breadcrumbs are crispy.

I usually make them with sauted onion. Yummy! ;) Either that or green bean cassarole with cream of mushroom soup, milk, etc. (it's on Campbell's website.) Only I don't use soy sauce in it and I put sauted onions in. I don't like the fried onion thingies so I leave those off and use almond slivers on top instead. Yum! :teeth:

Add a little olive oil to the water you boil the beans in, Becka. It gives them a nice flavor.:D

I'm PA Dutch & my favorite way to eat green beans is Ham & Beans - where you cook the beans in a broth made from simmering a ham butt all day...remove & cube the ham & add back when the beans are done...also add chunks of peeled white potatoes. Mmmm!

When I'm in a hurry but we're tired of plain, frozen green beans I'll saute almond slivers in a bit of butter & pour over the beans after they're cooked......or..... just toss some French fried onion rings with the cooked beans. (The ones you use for green bean casserole.)

I also like to buy the WHOLE green beans & use them in stir fry.

This is a very Filipino thing to do to any kind of veggie, but all you do is steam your vegetables quickly (so they stay crisp), saute up some minced garlic, chopped onion and tomato, throw in some shrimp or small bits of pork or chicken and serve! It sounds kind of weird, but it's really good!

My DH's Sicilian grandmother used to make them with olive oil and basil....yummy!

Now I make green beans the same way!

I've been on a green bean kick lately (petite whole frozen ones). I steam them in the microwave, drain the water, add a little margarine and shake on some seasoned salt.

I buy the big bag at Costco and I have them EVERY night with my Jenny Craig meal.

Growing up, we put bacon drippings in the beans. Grandma uses salt cured ham that has been boiled for a couple of hours and throw in a few whole taters. make a cake of cornbread and you've got good eatin'! :)

You could also do the bacon drippings, chopped onion and mushrooms.

If you are wanting to do the low sodium thing, use lemon pepper.
