What do I need to make online ADRs?

I am now confused.

What information do I need to access the online ADRs? I have a 6 digit booking reference number.
I have followed links from here and am unable to log on. The site says I have already registered my email address but that my surname and date of birth are incorrect

How can that be?? I know when I was born and I know what my name is?? Two things that aren't usually forgotten??

But reading other posts some people appear to mention a 12 digit number....don't have one of those!!

Is it easier to phone or go online??

You don't need to log into your account to make an ADR.

Go here http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/restaurants/

Might have to click visit US site then try again.

You will get this wording, click on the last words I have highlighted red
Resort Guests & Dining Plan
If you have a Resort reservation or would like to associate your Disney Dining Plan to your dining reservations, please retrieve your resort reservation. (Please be advised that not all restaurants participate in the Disney Dining Plan. Please check your Dining Plan information for participating restaurants.) Retrieve your reservation.

It will then ask for info.
Confirmation number (I can use my 12 digit or my 3 letters & 6 digit)
Last name
Arrival date
Resort

If you only have your original 6 digit number from Disney UK you will either need to ring them or email them to get your US reservation number, some are not succesful via email, others like myself are.
