What do I need to have prepared for online check-in?

I have taken a picture of my passport and it's very clear in showing everything that is necessary but I I'm wondering do I have to submit the picture at check-in vertically or horizontally. Unfortunately I have only been able to get all the information if taking it horizontally. I would really appreciate if somebody could tell me so I have everything ready to go.
Thank you in advance!
You should be fine. The biggest thing is to have the full bar code piece on the bottom so it uploads. If it doesn’t you will need to manually enter it. You could have a couple versions of the photos handy if one doesn’t fit. Remember…save and get through to get your PAT, then you can go back and fix uploads.

Thanks so much for answering. I will definitely have two ready to go.

In addition to the above answer, don’t worry if the site’s display of your passport photo is sideways, especially if the character recognition works to pull in your data (name, passport #, etc.).

My passport photo displayed sideways, so I used the site’s tool to rotate it, but then the character recognition didn’t work and I had to type in the info, AND my photo was later rejected bc unbeknownst to me, using the site’s rotation tool cut off part of the image.

I resubmitted, left it sideways, character recognition worked, and the photo was accepted. :) Definitely save yourself some effort!

I just checked into our Wish cruise today. It was super easy on the app, but my question is, now that we have the scans on our digital Apple wallet, is it necessary I print out the "arrival form" too? Isn't that redundant?

Some people like the paper backup in case of technological hiccup like a dead phone (my husband is one of them; I am not), but no, it’s not necessary. :)

Wow that's good advice thank you so much!

Yes, that's correct. That's exactly what I used to board the Wish earlier this week!
perfect! thanks so much! did you like it, we are in a cabin thats forward starboard. 9526. We've never been on this ship, I hope we like it.

Just checked in for the November TransAtlantic and "it" insisted I input my UK "Visa" number? Would not let me get past this prompt. Eventually I did a screen cap of the top part of the email for my ETA (blue banner at the top says GOV UK) and filled out the rest - including the "optional" reference number. It went through but not sure it's going to 'stick'? First time I have seen that and the drop down menu should say "ETA" as an option, along with "visa".

We have a closed loop cruise booked leaving out of Florida. We are a group of 8 and 2 people (adults) do not have passports and are not getting them. They will have their original birth certificate, military ID and drivers license.

Per dcl website, that should be fine but wanted to see if anyone not used a passport before? How do we check them in?

Is your Drivers License a real ID? I think some rules may have changed. Looks like you will be fine as long as original birth certificate AND a government issued ID are with you.

The FAQ says a real ID is not required to board the ship. I’m not sure if they have a real ID or not. My husband and I have real Id, and we have passports as do our kids.
You should be ok. I misread it. Kids 15 and under don’t need a government issued ID, just birth certificate.

The requirement to have REAL ID is for air travel, not for cruise travel. A 'regular' drivers license plus an original state-issued birth certificate will suffice.
I might be wrong. We have passport cards for our kids eventhough they’re all citizens.

Do make sure you’re reading links that are more recent May 2025+

You will be asked to upload a photo of your 'citizenship' document-that's either a passport or a birth certificate. For those that don't have passports, you'll need to upload a photo of the birth certificates. You won't need to upload a photo of your photo ID-you will need that at port to prove that it's you (name on the birth certificate matches name on your photo ID, and the photo on your photo ID matches, well, you).

In short, for online check in, upload the photo of passports for those who have them, and the photo of the birth certificate for those who don't have passports.
