What do I get AP?

Crazy confusion here.

I assume I'll get the DVC slider with my reservation bands.

I also assume I will get the rfid AP card when I activate my DVC AP?

Also I will activate my AP at checkin. Will they out the pass on my bands and give me the rfid card?

Also when I activate will they give me the discount card so I don't have to carry the AP AND the band?

Also the bands that are being mailed to AP holders come with a slider and a discount card. Will I get these 2 items when I activate my pass?

Seems dumb that they wont mail me the band/slider/discount card till after I get home.

This all seems VERY odd.

I received my AP MagicBand about a week ago. There was no slider or discount card in the box. Also unless things have changed, you can not activate an AP at check-in, you have to go to guest services either at DtD or one of the parks to do so.

Were they in the blue Passholder packaging? The Discount Card is under the insert that holds the MagicBands. The slider may have fallen inside the MB holder.

This has not changed, and probably never will.

Yeah, I thought that my moms slider wasn't in the box but it had fallen into the inside of the little box that actually holds the band. And the card is in the envelope underneath the entire display box. People would toss it and not even know it was in there if they don't open the envelope.

I don't understand the issue here. You're either carrying your AP and the band, or the Discount Card and the band. Either way you're carrying a card and a band.

But the reason you're not getting all of this ahead of time is that you haven't activated the pass.

Not 100% sure, but probably not. Your bands that you get upon check in are the bands for that on site reservation. AP holders are receiving separate bands with the sliders and discount cards. I don't think they have sets of those waiting for when you activate your pass. Again, I could be wrong.

Found them! They need a better way to to make the slider stay put, like maybe use some sticky stuff to attach it to the part that holds the band, it was buried deep inside the packaging. I hope in some future upgrade that the AP, DVC and TiW discounts can be coded in the the MB profile and communicated directly to the registers when scanned.

Yes, but the AP that this MB is for expires a week before my next trip. I've got the will-call number for my DVC PAP to get a new on issued when I get there. My room reservation MB should arrive in a week or so, we'll see if the DVC slider is in that box.

Like Chuck S says, its a little doodad that clips on your MagicBand. DVCNews has a photo (click here) of the DVC slider that is beginning to be given out to DVC members.

Just a guess, but these sliders probably cost Disney a penny or less when bought in bulk. But I can see members -- and I don't necessarily exclude myself from that group -- going to great lengths to get these sliders. If Disney customized sliders for each resort, offered different sliders for special events (Star Wars Weekend, MNSSHP, F&W, etc.) or put years on them (actually, there already is a '2013' slider out there), I can see Ebay having to add a whole new 'Slider' category to its website.

When I renewed mine, I didn't need to get an actual card. MB was all ready to go. Did you renew that or you bought new DVC PAP?

I don't know that anyone knows for sure. This whole thing is new and I think you should give it a chance to see what happens before you start getting so upset. You don't know if you'll get them or not when you activate. Neither do I.

Honestly, the slider... It doesn't do anything. The discount card... If you have the AP, you don't need the discount card. So even if they don't hand them out, it really doesn't matter. If you want the slider for status reasons so people know you're an AP holder, then ask for one. The worst they can tell you is that they don't have any.

You just seem very upset about the whole thing. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I'm sure it will all get sorted out eventually. If I were you, I'd just want to make sure I'm getting the discounts I'm supposed to get. And you can get those with the AP if that's all you end up having.

I had to show my ap a bunch of times for discounts. This past week. The discount cards just confused cms who knew nothing about the discount cards. They all wanted the actual ap. Eventually I left the discount cards in the room.

I had no trouble with the discount card last week instead of the original AP card.

To be clear about AP Magicbands - with a new AP purchase you must go activate your voucher and get an AP RFID card. Once activated your MB order will become active in the system (the next day!) but won't ship until you release the order. You can opt to buy a Magicband during your first trip as we did for my daughter, since we were not at a Disney resort last week.

Also you do not need to wait in the guest services line to redeem your AP voucher. All ticket windows are able to do this now and there were signs saying all will calls can be done at ticket windows next to the guest services windows.

I believe that causing confusion was part of the system design criteria. Now instead of an AP card you get a card that says you have an AP.
