What do I do if I need a doctor at WDW?

Two days until we leave and the Chicken Pox has been going around our school. I thought we were safe - my kids have all been vacinated, but guess what even the kids that have been vacinated have gotten them this time around!

Can anyone tell me what to do if I need a doctor (pediatrician) at a WDW resort. Do they have one on staff or will they be able to tell me who to call? Maybe if I cover all my bases and know what to do just in case, we will be lucky and won't need one.

Just one more thing to worry about. Thanks for the info.

Any medical problem, just let the front desk know and they can help with options. There are offsite walk-in centers and there are services that will send a doctor to the room. (The doctors aren't Disney staff.) If you are feeling ill in the parks, the First Aid stations can help get things straightened out, too.

Good luck with everything. My kids just got over the Chicken pox, my son just a few a days ago and we are leaving in 10 days! I doubt you would need a doctor though, if they get them, you will know and there is nothing that a doctor can do. The good news is if your kids have been vaccinated, they will have a relatively mild case. Also it takes a good fourteen days after close exposure to come down with it, so your kids may be ok. My daughter got it first and we kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting for my son to get it and it took him a full 15 days! Good luck! Tonia

A few years ago, when my DD was 15 months old, she got sick on our second day at Disney! I called the number provided by Disney (at around 2:00 AM), and a doctor was at our room around 8:00 AM the next morning. He gave us some Amoxil and of course, told me I could continue the Tylenol. In a few hours, she was feeling fine! (It was a little expensive - about $100.00, but well worth it! The medicine made such a difference!)

We had to call a doctor at our Disney hotel. He came with a nurse next minute I was going out in a emergency wagon to the hospital. Good thing after some tests it was not as bad as they thought. Disney had a car pick us up from the hospital back to our hotel. Bad week for us stay in the hotel all week. The cost was not cheap but still glad they have that service. Hope all works out well for you

A doctor for chicken poxs??? never heard of such a thing. Guess I'm from the old school. All three of my kids had them at the same time and my grandson got them when he was 2-- just keep some clean soxs around to put over their hands. Everything I've read, off site medical care is available, but you will pay a pretty penny for it. Hope it doesn't happen, because it could put a real damper on your vacation. I beleive the incubation period is 2 weeks (before the outbreak begins). Maybe you can call your Dr. now and ask about recommendations and care before you leave, he/she would be the best person to advise you. I'm sure an office nurse could answer any questions now, especially if it is necessary to seek medical care and when.

you can't board a plane with a child with chicken pox (or so I have been told). That would be my only concern. Have a great trip!

The emergency clinic in LBV, not the Hospital in Celebration (both on WDW transportation map) is a 'preferred provider' for our insurance. My last visit was only $15, the same as I pay at my own MD.
