HAHA! :rotfl: Thanks a lot bbowers! You just read my mind & I am definately going to do whatever it takes to get to WDW!!!

Thanks a lot for all the advice.....happygirl.....I am now going to give Disney a call & see what they can do for me!! :earsgirl:

If there is a problem, book a new reservation FIRST, and THEN cancel the old one.

But I'm sure everything will work out. Let us know how you make out! :)

Note to everyone whose financial houses are in perfect order - sometimes, you just gotta get to the Mouse's House, and if that means selling your first-born male child to come up with the money... you gotta do what you gotta do!

Have fun DeeDeeW80!!!

Me too! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
blah, blah, blah, blah, we can't all be perfect!

Call Disney, I'm sure they will extend the deposit date. I do it all the time!
Hope it works!

I can SELL my FIRSTBORN :earseek:

(DS19 - would practically give him away anyway....boy was mom powerful when she was spouting that "i can't wait till you have kids just like you" chant) to earn money to go to WDW!?!?!?

I want that link!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

WHAT??

We don't all have perfect financial planning?

We have credit card debt??!!

We have DEBT????!!!!

Holy smokes, Batman...I can't BELIEVE IT!

I love unsolicited advice. It's the highlight of my day. LOL!

Enjoy your vacation, charged or not. So you'll be paying it off for the rest of your life...you'll have your magical memories just as long!

BTW, if you don't yet have a firstborn, what can you sell to take a trip to the mouse house? I'm always interested to know how people have secured their finances to make their trip.

Are you going to have enough money after the trip to pay off the credit card before any interest builds on what you have spent? Financing a vacation by credit is poor financial planning. If you're not going to pay it off before interest builds and you pay monthly what you can afford you are telling the bank that you are willing to pay 10%-30% more for the vacation than anyone else.

I don't believe that she was asking for financial advice... She was just asking what she should do because her card wasn't here. And, had you read the OP you would have noticed that she mentioned that this was a 'last minute' trip. I don't think it's 'poor financial planning' at all. My FMIL just paid for our entire Disneymoon via credit card. And this was a PLANNED trip.

I would just do what everyone says, call and ask for an extension and wait on the card. You can also call the credit card company. They will probably want a lot of info before they give you the card number, but I'm sure once you tell them what's going on, they will be willing to work with you.

Good luck!!! Let us know how everything turns out.

Being an only child seems to work for me!! Even still at 27! :rotfl:

As for the OP, I don't have the Disney credit card so I don't know if this would work. . . but any chance you can get a 'rush' put on the processing? Not sure if they'd offer to expedite it, even if for a small fee.

Or even just call and ask to speak to a supervisor, someone a little higher up, to see if you have any options. Just explain that you wanted to book your vacation using the card to take advantage of the perks and have a limited time to do so and you need their help figuring out what your options are.

If that doesn't work, anyone you can borrow money from? Anything you can sell quickly? Any corners you can cut? Just take a look at your budget and see if you can make any cuts here and there for the next couple weeks - budgeting groceries, don't eat out, don't buy anything you don't absolutely need right at this moment. Find cheap/free things to do to entertain yourselves.

Or find out if there are any local festivals/events going on in your area. I'm constantly seeing listings on craigslist.com for people to do promo stuff over the course of a day or two for as much as $25 an hour. The two of you could pass out samples at a local festival for the weekend and earn your deposit that way.

Well I called Disney & they gave me an extension till June 29!!! :cool1: I love Disney!!! Thanks again everyone for your advice!!!! Now I wish this cred card will just hurry up & get here so I can pay they whole trip & be done with it....for now....till the bill comes in!!! But if I want to go to WDW this is what I have to do. Disney is the best! Hope you have a wonderful trip!!! Last minute plans are always exciting! :goodvibes

Why are so many people making snide remarks to/about the posters that gave the OP financial advice? They were just responding to the information that the OP posted.

When you put out personal information, it's only natural that people will post comments. Some of the comments we'll like some we won't.

I don't know if anyone else had this experience, but my disney visa came seriously a week after I applied for it online! I could not believe it. I hope yours comes fairly quickly also!

tricia.

OT but did you see the news about the wife of a DJ in England who sold his 45,000. pound lotus car on ebay for 90pence because he said something nasty about her on the radio. It sold in 5 mins.

I would call the credit card co. and see if they can help you out. I'll bet they will. They want you to use the card, believe me. I think the Disney Visa has an offer don't they - 6 months no interest? I have a Disney Visa, but I've had it for years and haven't used it in years so I don't exactly know what they offer. I think when I first got it I did get 6 months 0 interest.

I agree...the OP didn't ask for financial advice. We are using a card for our upcoming trip, which we've never done in the 11 years we've been going. We have a card with 0% interest for 15 months so we decided to use it for the trip and it will be NO PROBLEM paying it off before the 15 month mark. This is an extra trip for us, we went to Southern CA for "vacation" in May. And although we had a good time, we really really missed WDW.

I don't know who you are - but I want to kiss you. Very well said. I laughed so hard I spit coffee on my keyboard.

Do you guys really think that all the people who claim they NEVER use credit cards are really being 100% honest. This is America. I'm not condoning living off credit or using credit cards on a regular basis, but c'mon. You gotta' do what you gotta' do, that's right. You only live once. And, when you meet St. Peter he ain't gonna' say "Did you use your credit card for Disney vacations?????" :rotfl:

1) I think the credit card company advice has been right.
2) Call the credit card company and check on the progress.
3) A good excuse is checking when it was sent, for security reasons.
4) You could say you wondered about it being stolen if sent a while ago.
5) If not sent yet, ask for expedited mail.

PS - I have seen several posts regarding the advisability of putting the whole vacation on the credit card. I don't think it is up to them (or me) to comment on this. Do what is right for you!

PPS - I am not sure I'd give up the full rights to my first born, but a rental for manual toil in the fields would be fine.

Just FYI.... someone mentioned that not all trips qualify for 6 months financing. That is true, but since this poster is a new applicant the first 6 months are 0% anyway (introductory). We had the same problem, not sure if our trip would "qualify" but we were assured (and it has been true now that we've seen the bills come in!) that ANYTHING the first 6 months is at 0% anyway.

Obviously I would ask to make sure (just call any customer service number), since credit-card-fine-print can change at any time! Just letting you know what worked for us...

Enjoy your trip! :sunny:

:rotfl: All this worrying about nothing! We just received the credit card in the mail today!! So much for the extension they gave us!! So out whole trip is now paid for on the credit card at 0% for 6 months!!! Now I'm going to sit down & figure out all the good places to eat so I can make my dining reservations!!! I can't wait!!! We leave August 28 and return home September 2 Not too much longer now!!! :earsgirl:

Well! It's a good thing we decided to put our trip on an EXISTING card at 0% APR because if it is true that we would have had to pay the WHOLE trip with the Disney Visa (deposit AND trip) OR that your tickets have to have "pluses" then the trip would not have qualified. I can't remember if the link I looked at said 0% for ALL purchases for the first 6 mos. or not. If we would have applied for that card and not been able to get 0% for the trip I would have been furious!

I think there are different offers floating around because I saw about 3 different codes for different "perks" on new accounts. Maybe some are 0% for all purchases, others may not be.

I hope everyone has FABULOUS trips - debt or no debt!! :)
