What do Brits think about Rose & Crown dining?

We're planning on a WDW trip this summer and one of the best rated restraunts we've come across is the Rose and Crown, what i want to know from fellow Brit's is, whether it's worth eating there if you're English anyway?

Is the food paticularly good english food or what you would expect to find in any decent pub/restaurant here in the UK?

Can't say I loved it. Raglan Rd at DTD which is Irish was way better.

We loved it. I had bangers and mash and my friend had a Sunday roast, food was delicious, as good as if not better than any pub lunches I've had here. Lovely conversation with our server too.

we were totally unimpressed! Can't for the life of me even remember what we had now but wouldn't go again. The DH liked the beer though!!!:)

Honestly? We tried it 3 times and each time was delivered either undercooked fish or mushy fish or just not that nice. To top it off, as we like to eat late, we alway got left with a stupid wait because no-one would make the guests leave who had clearly finished and were trying to stay for Illuminations. This left us with on one occasion 90+ mins past our ADR time. When that happens and then you are serves sub-standard food, and it was not a one off then it got scrubbed off our list forever.

The lunch, I imagine, may be good, but food is terrible in the evening.

However, Raglan Road is our go to place and think nothing of eating there 2-3 times a trip because of the varied menu (but I cannot get past the fish and chips, bread and butter pudding and some cider and blackcurrant and I get it every time and it is always perfectly cooked).

Ate here several times and always had a good meal.

I agree. R&C is ok I guess but after trying once I've skipped it ever since. Raglan Road however, I've visited on every trip since 'discovering' it!

Personally, I don't see the point in going to R&C when I can get mediocre "pub grub" whenever I wish! I do frequent the bar though. ;)

We always book a res at The Rose and Crown - each trip we have enjoyed the food there and if you want some british food while you are away its a great place to go! I would also recommend Raglan Road:thumbsup2

Agree with the general consensus... food is just ok for me, setting is quite dated I think.

Hope you enjoy it if you do eat there :-)

Can only speak for ourselves. We've always had a perfectly good meal there. I can see how guests who want to dawdle because of Illuminations can be a problem as it is recognised as the perfect viewing spot. Having been lucky enough to have dined there ourselves on the lower level by the water (we weren't dawdler's - just perfectly timed ;)) I would say it was particularly spectacular from there. A thought too for the staff as it must become particularly difficult for the servers to "encourage" :confused3 the more sluggish early evening guest to give up their table approaching 9 o' clock.

Trying it this year. Its one of the few places we haven't eaten at yet. Gets mixed reviews but we want to try it.

I found it okay, I have no desire to go again though as the menu doesn't really excite me.
