I thought it be nice to have a thread where everyone can say what DLRP means to them esp for the ones who go back time and time again.

I really like to hear everyones answer and how the Disney magic has effected them. Has anyone actually cried from joy from the magic of the park?

What makes you go back there time & time again etc...

_______

DLRP to me means a place where i can let myself go free and enjoy being a child again and not worry about what people are thinking of me.
I actually wanted to cry when i watched candleabration and the OUAD parade. But then realised i might look a bit sad :rotfl:

I cried the first time I watched Fantillusion, WWOD and OUAD and I had a lump in my throat this time watching Fantillusion too, but I think that had a lot to do with hearing how excited my niece was with it, she was on my shoulders to see above the crowds the first night and I had a running commentary on who was coming:
"It's Minnie Mouse, Auntie Jill and she looks so beautiful"

I had a conversation with DH the other day about it and to be honest I can't explain what it is that keeps me obsessed, but I love everything about the holiday, the hotel, the breakfast, the parks obviously, Disney Village at night, the Lake, I could go on and on..............

my eyes seem to well up when i listen to "Just like we dreamed it"

It's where I got to forget!

a means of escapism if you like :thumbsup2

I went there fairly reluctantly as a street wise, overtired Mum and came back with a renewed sense of how to enjoy the little things in life.
DLRP really did reignite my imagination and helped me see the world through my childrens eyes.
I wish everyone could go and see what I saw.

I totally welled up the first time I heard the twinkly music and saw the "snow" fall in the dark on Main St this past November - truly magical.

I cannot stop singing "Just like we dreeeeamed it" once I hear it.

I find it very hard to describe Disney magic ~ I guess it's a case of leaving all the worries of the real world behind and going to a magical place where you can lose yourself in a mix of childhood nostalgia and dreams for a better world. :wizard:

Although I hope I will visit many other places for holidays, Disney is always going to be my number one holiday destination and I intend to visit even when I am an old granny with my zimmer frame!! :rotfl:

I feel sorry for those who don't "get" the magic.

I told my lot I'd like my ashes scattered there, preferably from the top of BTM, I also told them to make sure they're in the very back seat when they do it, I don't particularly want to end up on someone's coat.

Not wanting to get too morbid, but do you think that's a possibility, would you have to get permission, do they have a place to scatter ashes, I can't possibly be the first person to think of it ?

Disney will not allow this in any of their parks. Not sure if this is a health and safety issue or just that other guests want to associate Disney with happy thoughts :goodvibes

I'm positive others have thought of this. Since anyone who remembers happy times at Disney would I think understandably want to do this :)

For me, it means being able to escape what seems to be a cruel world, and be a child once again.

But that's not all, the best part is spending quality time with my DD, who is now nearly 16! We are close enough anyway, but DLRP just cements the bond we have, it's one place she will still allow me to hold her hand too!

Have I cried? Lots! It's a place where you can readily let go of your emotions, I think, and allow yourself to be a child all over again :charac2:

But how would they know you was scattering ashes?

You could of just dropped a big bag of ash lmao.

I like DLRP because I have been going since I was 4 and it allows me feel like a child every time I go! (even though I'm not much of an adult yet - I'm 17)

It's also the most simple to get to disney for us and although my mum doesn't care whether shes going again, she loves it when me get there and it allows us to spend some time together without other distractions

I just feel i have got back home when i am there, but i agree with those who say there is no way to *force* the magic if you dont feel it.

Great idea about the ashes,i would like more to stay there than buried in a sad italian cemetery lol

DLRP is quite simply my spiritual home. I have stayed in every hotel and at the ranch and love every inch of the place!!!! My first visit was the first year it opened and I have been back most years since. My love is shared by DD, DS and little DS and it brings us closer as a family sharing our trips and our memories. When something fairly serious has happened in my life, eg divorce or father's illness, I put a trip into the planning stages and feel I have something to look forward to again. I feel I will always feel the same about the place. I am now a DVC owner and go home to my resort of Animal Kingdom Villas in Florida as much as I can, but DLRP will always be my first love. I am fiercly defensive of it and get very angry when people slag it off or say it's not the 'real Disney'. It's real to me. A very real and precious part of my life.
And I always cry at the parades and at the first hug of each trip from the Main Mouse!!!!

Change of plan then, they're going to have to sneak me over in several small bags. :rolleyes1

I'm with you Guilia, I don't want to end up in a sad cemetery anywhere. :thumbsup2

Its the whole Disney thing for me..and to see my 2 kids excited makes it worth every penny! I get a lump in my throat at the LK show..the singers are truelly amazing!...its all a package and I love it and for the rest of my life I want to go at least once ayear...besides my DH wants a fridge magnet with the dates in order!! He doesn't want to miss a year....now thats weird!!:rotfl:

By the way that ashes thing is hilarious!!...who would know by the way??? Go on the ride 4 times letting go of a wee bit each time!!!:rotfl:

hi there,

to me it means that i have a really good reason to be young and foolish all over again!!!! at the old age of 33 i need every excuse, so my dh says!! it does make it easier sharing it with my ds and dd, ds goes crazy and with dd being 11 going on 20 she tries to act all cool about but i know that deep down she is really jumping about as much as me!!!! i don't know why but i have to admit that everytime i walk through the gates and start walking up main street i do get a tear to the eyes, dh thinks i'm mad, he just doesn't get it!!

great thread i think, can't wait for my turn to be there, only 13 days to go, not that i'm counting!!! and i have still kept it a surprise from ds and dd!!!
