What Disney Tip Are you really glad you listened to?

I'm not the craftiest person in the world. Or the World! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Any place to just buy neck coolers? Sound like a great idea, especially for DH!

Try Etsy or Ebay. They are really easy to make. I'm going to buy some crystals and whip some out (you know, in my spare time :rotfl:). A friend of mine found some in Walgreens in Tulsa for her dogs. She reminded me that I had the instructions to make them. The ones she found in Tulsa were 2 for $5.00

She is going to test drive some for me because I might make some to put in my dog collar store. If I ever get around to it, I can let ya'll know..just send me a PM if you want to know when they are up.. but don't wait for me.. I have SO many projects going plus, that job thing.

:surfweb:

I also really like this idea, however, my kids are little (1 and 3) and I don't quite trust them (or a bad stranger for that matter) to keep the jewelry on them and use it appropriately. SO....I found this product called SafteyTat. It's a temporaray tattoo that is personalized with your cell phone number. You can put it on your child and then simply replace when it starts to wash off. To be fair, I have also seen people do this with a piece of masking tape and marker on the back of the child's shirt. For me though, I'd rather spend a little more and get these which I know will stay on much better than masking tape. I haven't personally used them yet as I just recently learned about them but am 100% ordering for my upcoming trip!

PS - thanks for all the marvelous tips here, this is awesome!

When our kids were smaller, we did the dog tags as well, but rather then around their necks, we attached them to their shoes... out of the way and still readily accessable

Going to take a while to read all the posts. Some I've never thought of. Will share some of my ideas once I find out if anyone posted them yet or not.

We are going at the end of August.
Did you make yours or did you buy them?
I would like to get a few before we go!
Thanks!

I make ours. But you can find them all over the internet. Just google neck coolers or disney neck coolers.

Finally got through reading all 46 pages. Whew! Never thought they were going to end. I learned a lot of cool tips. My wife and I will be going next year. So we'll have plenty of time to buy whatever we need. We're taking friends and family along, so we'll definitely pass along a lot of these tips. Some we knew, some we've never heard of.

Here's a few things my wife and I do when we go. We've taken some of your ideas and further enhanced them into our own.

Cell phones are one of the greatest things to take along. I was amazed at how many people use index cards. Most cell phones have a "calendar" and "note pad" feature you can utilize. We make a general plan and add an entry to our calendar for that particular date. Park hours, ADR times and confirmation #, parade times, etc.. We always have our cell phones with us to communicate should we get separated; so we find it easier to just enter the information into our cell phone calendar.

Most cell phones have built in cameras. We loved the idea of taking a picture of your parking spot. We've gotten lost a few times, so we'll be utilizing this idea. If you have kids (we don't, but we're still kids at heart), good idea to take a picture of your kids everyday. God willing nothing bad ever happens to them, but you have a current photo just in case. One person mentioned this, but I'll mention it again; take a picture of the back of your tickets with your cell phone. You'll always have it with you.

If you have a digital camera, you can utilize this as well. I work for my state's Attorney Generals Office. This is some of the advice we offer consumers. Take pictures of everything I just mentioned, but do so on a different memory card. Also as a precautionary measure, also take a picture of the front and back of all your credit/debit cards and drivers license. Should you lose your wallet, you will have the necessary information to cancel your cards. Also, program the phone numbers on the back of your credit/debit cards into your cell phone; plus that of the 3 major credit bureau's (Experian, Equifax & Transunion). Protect your identity, call the credit bureau's right away to put a freeze on your credit. Usually if you call one, they will contact the other 2 for you and help set it up for you. I suggested on a separate memory card, this way you have all this important information separate should you lose your camera. Keep the memory card in a secure place. Never know when you might need it.

Not some of your fun tips, but some tips I find important. Hopefully you will never have to utilize these tips. Read my next post for some fun tips.

Always be organized and plan, plan, plan. Man, you can never get in enough planning for Disney.

And always have your dining reservations if you are planning on eating table service well in advance!

Now for some vacation tips DW (still getting used to the lingo) and I use.

We never knew about the body glide or mole skin. We're getting those for our next trip. Everybody suggested raincoats. Part of the fun for us was getting wet. Especially on Kali River Rapids. We wore sandals on the ride, 'cause we knew we were going to get wet. We took extra shoes along and changed into them later in the evening. I like to wear mesh style basketball shorts and mesh style shirts. If you get wet, they dry fast. I wore cargo pants one time on KRR and I developed a rash on my legs where they rubbed against my wet cargo shorts. Guessing this is where the body glide helps.

Bandanas & Skull caps. They're great. I wear a skull cap around the park. I can take it off, wet it and helps keep me cool. Keeps my scalp from getting burned (slowly losing my hair and I don't like to wear a cap all day). Great alternative. DW uses a bandana to tie her hair up. She has naturally curly hair and the humidity makes it frizz out. So this her best alternative. She does like I do, takes it off and wets it to help her cool down. Helps keep the head nice and cool. I read about the neck cools, I'll be looking into those. One of the best tips I read, don't worry about making a fashion statement. If you're comfortable, that's all that matters.

Personally, we're big fans of renting a locker. We take everything we need (extra shoes, socks, jackets, sunscreen, towel) in a small gym bag or backpack. Get there early enough to get a large locker (same price as a small locker). 4 people can usually share one big locker. We go back to it as needed. This way we're not lugging a big bag around all day. As others mentioned; we use a fanny pack for the simple things we need throughout the day like small tube of sunscreen, wallet and cell phone. Plus we personally don't feel like pushing a stroller around all day. We also rent a car. If you're on a tight budget, as we sometimes are, then we'll keep extra stuff like shoes and jackets in the car. Hassle to go back for them sometimes; but if you don't want to rent a locker or carry around a bag, best alternative. Now that we know you can get free ICED H20, we'll be taking advantage of this tip. No more lugging around bottled water anymore either.

We usually don't stay on site, so we rent a car. Car has so much added benefits. Can go and come as you please. Don't have to wait for transportation. Can make a trip to the grocery store and take a day trip to the beach. WDW parks only charge one parking fee per day for all parks. So you if you like to park hop, and rented a car to go from park to park, you don't have to pay for parking at each park.

I strongly agree with taking only 1/2 of what you're going to wear. We stay at a resort and have access to laundry facilities. So we only take 1/2 our clothes and do laundry while we're there. If you're not allergic to specific types of laundry detergent, Purex has come out with one the greatest invention ever. They developed 3 in 1 laundry sheet. It has the laundry detergent and fabric softener in it already. Once you finish washing clothes, it's used a dryer sheet as well. They are real compact and transport easily in your luggage.

One other thing we like to take along is a small sewing kit. Can usually pick one up at a dollar store. Sounds ridiculous and you're probably laughing at me, but that's ok. Last time we went, my sister laughed at me to; until she lost a button and needed it. We throw this in our bag we take to the park, along with a portable first aid kit. Did I mention carrying a safety pin or 2 in your fanny pack or pocket? Never know when you might lose that button. Will come in handy until you get to your sewing kit.

These are some of the tips I can throw in. Everybody has mentioned a lot of the general tips. Eat off site. Take water, snacks, sunscreen, raincoats, shoes, socks, etc.. Make ADR for sit down restaurants. Utilize Fast Pass. Use Teva sandals and coolmax socks. This was my favorite, take along a power strip. Someone mentioned this and I to have found myself looking for every available plug to charge cell phones, ipods and camera batteries.

Sorry for making this post and my last post so long. Thanks for all the tips. Keep them coming. If I think of anymore, I'll be sure to pass them along; and try to keep them short and sweet.

I always print the cute mousekeeping and resturant envelopes to put my tip money in. But reading on the boards the best tip I got was to fix the money in the envelopes before we leave so I don't have to use any more of my spending money.

If you are at the water parks and leave your towel, clothes, etc. on a beach chair, cover them with your rain poncho!!...We had a deluge with plate sized rain:scared1:, and if I had not covered our things, we would have had no dry clothes to change into for the CHILLY bus ride out!!:headache:

Ohhhhhhh. REALLY good tip.
Question for you: were the plate sized raindrops more like a saucer, dinner, or hidden mickey in haunted mansion dining room plate? hee hee

:yay:So many great tips from this website over the years!!! We were able to ride in the monorail nose, take the path less traveled behind Space Mtn.,use ziplocs, get lockers and birthday buttons & take rain ponchos bought at the dollar store..etc. all great advice--

One valuable thing I learned was to put my sticky address labels on cameras, Pal Mickey, and anything else I carry into the park, because sure enough I lost both of those things in Animal Kingdom, they were picked up by cast members and taken to the central lost & found. They have dozens of lost Pal Mickeys there, and hundreds of disposable cameras..but I was able to get my own stuff back because they were labeled and I was able to tell the attendant the date I lost them, what park I was in, and what ride I last rode when I discovered the item missing.

Oh, and when the CM's tell you to take your baseball cap off when you ride something like Primeval Whirl...just do it. Dear hubby thought his hat couldn't possibly come off and sure enough after the first twist and turn he lost his best LSU cap. The CM told him they would all be retrieved at the end of the day and taken to AK lost & found...we waited till 7:30 p.m. and they had it waiting there,(no address label in it of course)..we just had to describe it to get it back.

sorry, I haven't read every page on here - What is bodyglide and what is it used for? Where can I purchase this?
thanks in advance
