What Disney Restaurant Would You NOT want to go again and why?

One day from our trip in 2006 stands out for me (wish I hadn't bothered eating at all ;) )

We were at DTD and wanted a bite for lunch, the queue for Rainforest Cafe looked massive so we turned around and saw Cap'n Jack's Restaurant, thought that would do.

I had a sandwich which was totally soggy ( I hate a soggy sandwich :sad2: ) and there was a hair in the sauce/gravy on the side.

Didn't eat much but a couple of hours later I felt awful.

We had a PS for Spoodles that night and I was determined to try the desert sampler, so despite still felling rough we went.
We ordered our food, starter came it was fine, then we waited ages for our main (20-30 mins from memory). We told a CM and they went to check it out, about 10-15 mins after that they brought out the food. It was practically cold and I'd just had enough, I picked at it but couldn't stand to eat it. Then another server came our way with the same two dishes :confused3 though this time they looked piping hot and freshly cooked, he saw we were already eating and turned back
By this time I just wanted to leave (couldn't even face desert :sad1: ) so hubby ate what he could and we left (we did pay first ;) )

I'm sure it was just an unlucky day for me, but things like this do put you off. At least at WDW there is so much choice, oh and we had breakfast at Spoodles last year which was good. Maybe I'll go just for desert in Dec:laughing:

We have eaten at many places in WDW and our biggest let down was Kona Cafe. It was very noisy, we were crammed against another table and the food was just ok. Breakfast at Kona was much better and is an experience I would repeat but not dinner.

I wouldn't sat Kona was bad, it just wasn't for us.

The worst place in WDW we have found is the fish n chips in Epcot - gross gross GROSS! I live in the UK and know what fish n chips should be like and the ones from here were nowhere near. Rubber fish (type unknown) and greasy chips fried in cheap oil, we will not go there again!

Shutters - the food was not up to par with the rest of WDW's food. We got sick to our stomachs after eating there. The service was slow, and the restaurant was dingey.

A close second would be 1900 Park Fair, the food was ok but the service was the pits. We were not seated properly (the pager didn't go off and then they gave our table away), then the wait staff was rushing us the whole meal. So, on our own decision we won't go back.

I agree, my DW (yes, wife, not child) pretty much lives on Chicken strips/tenders when eating at a CS place and she, nor i, have never been sick.. They are rather tastey

I was so sick I could barely function. I didn't go to the doctor while there but did as soon as we got back and he said I did have food poisoning. If ds got food poisoning like I did he'd be in the hospital. It does scare me a bit. I'm wary of most of the buffets at the parks.

I agree about not going back to Chef Mickeys for dinner. That being said, I would not go back to Garden Grill because the food was disgusting and Mickey and Chip were not into character much.

I am also wary of ANY buffet...so many people with sickness and unclean hands touching the same serving spoons we touch. Yuck! I wish buffets would offer wipes or gloves at the serving stations.

The only restaurant we were not completely happy with was Chefs De France. We waited a long time for our reserved seating. I requested Coke and our waitress brought a Diet Coke. She appeared offended when I questioned her about the Diet Coke and never offered to change it. She was from France on a short work visa and had a rather heavy accent. My appetizer, Tartare of Raw Salmon didnt taste very good. She stated that the entree I had ordered would taste "beautiful"...presentation is a big factor here. Overall I could feel the strong cultural differences which may be either charming or uncomfortable for some. Anyways, I may give it another try just to see if it was me.

O'hanas. I did not think that it was that good. Just average food. If I want to eat at a buffet I will go to Boma's.

Kona. It was the worst meal in our 18 visits. Service was abyssmal, food tough and just UGH all over.

I would have to say Coral Reef. The service was horrible, our waitress kept on forgetting about our table, we spent close to two hours just eating here. The portions were small and the fish was flavorless if not fishy. The best part about the meal was getting to leave. I like the fish tank and all, but I have a fish tank at home and i rather just sit next to my own fish tank and eat then go here again.

Nine Dragons. Our local Chinese restaurants are much better and the prices are more reasonable.

This one breaks my heart!! We have always had outstanding experiences at Kona. When was this? Which meal? Details please!!!! I hope they haven't changed management, menus, chef, or anything!!

Wolfgang Puck's in DTD. It was migrane-inducing noisy, we had the rudest waiter on the planet, and my dinner was inedible. Never again! Such a shame, since WP Express is so good!

I should stress that I am not a fan of character meals or buffets, in general (Boma being the only buffet exception), but I'll pick one in each place:

Magic Kingdom - CRT: This was one of my absolute faves before they turned it into a princess fest and ruined the ambience, IMO. It was cool when they just had the princess breakfast. I understand that kids like that. But not everyone has kids and some of us liked being able to just relax and eat in the castle setting with no characters strolling around.

The only MK place I ever really dine anymore is Tony's. I like the Lady & the Tramp stuff but please, WDW, PLEASE never get characters of Lady & Tramp walking around, because then I will probably never eat TS in MK again. :headache:

Epcot - Biergarten: I ADORE the food (one of the few buffets I can take), but I really do not like the set up at all. I'm just not a very social person and sitting with random people who I probably have nothing to really talk about with is not my idea of a good time. :(

My favorite place to dine in Epcot is Marrakesh. :thumbsup2

Disney Studios - 50's Prime Time : The food has been repeatedly  , wait times are :scared1: , and I've never had a waiter/ress there who seemed to be getting into their role. I also have a hard time suspending my disbelief (something I'm usually good at) when someone who is clearly younger than me is pretending (and not very well) to be my mom. I dunno. I know people love this place, but I really think this is one of the few Disney places where the waitstaff primarily ignores childless adults because I've tried it about 3 times and every time my party has been mostly ignored.:confused3 I won't be wasting my time going back.

My favorite place to dine at the Studios is and always will be The Sci Fi Diner. I love diner food for lunch (burgers, fries, shakes), glowy ice cube drinks and I am hugely into old B-Movies. This place is like my heaven! I can't wait to take my boyfriend here in Sept. :thumbsup2

Animal Kingdom- AK is weird to me and I don't know how to answer this because I've seriously always just dined at Pizzafari when I go here because they have awesome counter service chicken parm sandwiches. Supposedly, since I last visited they have added a buffet that I probably won't check out (Tusker House) and a place that looks somewhat interesting (Yak & Yeti). I might try to check Y&Y out in Sept. because I like exotic food and the atmosphere looks incredibly cool. I'm glad AK is adding more TS places. Rainforest Cafe (which was the only one forever) is 3 towns away from me at home, so I have no interest in going there. Dunno though. Those chicken parm sandwiches are really good.

Resort Hotels - 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian. Dinner buffet. The food was horrible. And again, characters are not my thing. I think for some reason I didn't know it was a character meal when I booked it, confusing it with something else. I'm also not really a fan of the Hoop Dee Doo at Fort Wilderness. I think it's a pretty hokey show (it was cute when I was 7) and I hate sitting with people I don't know. The last time I went, I got to sit alone with just the person I was there with (she really wanted to see it) which made it somewhat better. The food is okay but nothing great.

My favorite place to eat in a resort is Jiko at AKL. :thumbsup2 Though it makes me very, very sad to see some of the changes in the menu. Not really sure why Disney feels the need to "vanilla-ize" the menus of the more adventurous places. :sad2: They don't even serve tamarind sauce with the filet anymore. Luckily, the chefs never seem to mind giving me some. :thumbsup2 Jiko will be my first dinner when I go in Sept! I also really like Artist Point at WL. I really enjoyed the wine pairings here last time I went and the food was fantastic. I don't think I'll have a chance to get over there in Sept. though.

Downtown Disney - Planet Hollywood/Rainforest Cafe. RFC because this is a chain that is literally 3 towns away from me at home. And PH because it's always crowded, noisy and the food reminds me of the 99's.

I rarely dine downtown. I don't really have a favorite place to eat here. But my favorite place to drink here is the Adventurer's Club. Kungaloosh! :thumbsup2

Rainforest Cafe - we've eaten there the past 3 trips. I'm not saying we're never going back, but we're not going there on this year's trip & I don't foresee going there on any other trips in the near future. The food just isn't very good and it's expensive + the noisy jungle atmosphere has just gotten old.

First of all, I go to WDW a LOT!:thumbsup2 That being said, I have been to a few of the resteraunts mentioned here. One that comes to mind is Boma's. Been there a few times, and LOVED the dinner. Breakfast on Mothers Day a few years back, not so good.:confused3 I have been to Mama Melrose and the last time, it was just plain AWFUL!:sad2: I had "eggplant parmegiana" and it was about the size of a half dollar...tasted like one too.:rolleyes1 If you don't get the pizza you are sunk. I have been to 50's Prime Time about 12 years ago, thats right, have NEVER been back, it was soooo bad!:headache: Went to Crystal Palace about a year or so ago, never again, food was so so and kids screaming and running around, not for me!:sad2: I loved Crystal Palace back in the day, like 70's when it was cafeteria style, that was great!:cloud9: Oh, the good old days.....now back to reality...Tusker House...LOVED the food when it was a regular resteraunt, now thats it not, I will never grace their doorway again.:rolleyes1 Did YAK and YETI and it was OK, just not at 11 in the morning, for breakfast, not a good choice.:rolleyes1 Also, my MOST favorit is Chef Mickey's and the layout is great, and the food is GOOD for a "cheap" buffet!:thumbsup2

My parents and I went to Sci-Fi a few years back and the hamburger was raw. I didn't realize it until a few bites in and still ended up getting food poisoning and had to stay in the hotel the rest of the day.
