For instance,

At Disneyland, I miss the Pendleton Woolen Shop in Frontierland. We purchased many shirts and jackets there.

At WDW, I miss the original Chef Mickey's, located in DtD where Rainforst Cafe is today, the Concorse Steakhouse, and the Empress Lilly.

The first time I ever went to Disney (for my honeymoon) Goofy was waterskiing as we rode the ferry over to Magic Kingdom. I've never seen it since, but it was so cool!

I also miss the red and black Mickey toiletries they used to have in the hotel rooms.

Diamond Horseshoe in WDW. I liked having lunch while enjoying the comic that was on stage. By the time I had a family of my own and we went (back in 2006), it was closed.

At WDW I miss the magic shop and Penny Arcade on Main Street and the shop that used to be in the Castle. I also miss the old petting zoo at Fort Wilderness - it didn't have all the partitions, so you could walk up to all the animals (including the big Brahma bull) and feed or pet them.

I miss the restaurant that used to be in Adventureland that had fried rice. It's now a character greeting spot most of the time.

I also miss the Mile Long Bar that was next to the Country Bear Jamboree (in part of Pecos Bill's) and the heads that were on the wall. And also the Diamond Horseshoe.

(And of course I miss the Adventurers Club, though I did consider that an attraction.)

My first time going to Disney was 1989. I was 15, and I remember how much the bus drives talking over the microphone on the bus. They told jokes, gave intresting facts, etc... That really impacted my trip and even to this day I continue to remember thost bus trips. That doesn't seem to happen anymore. Over the last 10 years I have been a bunch of times and I think I remember 1 bus ride that the driver talked. This is certainly not an attraction and probably not something that to many miss. But to me there was something about getting on the bus and your first interaction with Disney that day being positive and upbeat.

Skyway. I used to love to ride it for the photography opportunities it presented. It still makes me sad to see that stupid stroller rental area they have in Fantasyland where it used to be. :sad2:

Before the Main St. Emporium consumed the entire left side of Main St., I recall spending time in the Magic Shop that was located there before they knocked down all of the interior walls to make the mega-store. I miss that "The Walt Disney Story" that used to be on the right as you entered MK. I miss the Sunkist juice stand that used to be by the Tiki Room.

Diamond Horseshoe in WDW.

I miss these too.

I also miss the Tapestry of Nations parade at Epcot.

I miss the old "Ice Station Cool" with the tacky frozen cave man.

I miss the Wonders of Life pavilion. I know it is listed officially as "open seasonally", but whenever we've been there lately, it is never open.

I miss the old "Doug Live" show at the Studios. It was the first thing we saw on our first family trip, back in 1999.

I miss the Sword in the Stone ceremony.

I miss The Timekeeper.

I miss the original Akershus restaurant and all of the interesting shops that used to be on Main Street.

The sheer heat of the place plus the monorail!

I miss all the things others have mentioned and one more..........there used to be a real antique store at the Magic Kingdom. I'd occasionally find a little treasure there to bring home as my trip souvenir!

Epcot entertainers......Masquerade, Kristos, Living Statues. Epcot's Tapestry of Nations parade. The more varied menus the restaurants used to have before the 'free' dining days. Bus drivers who could talk to their bus load of guests, prior to the canned recordings.

I have to agree that the live entertainers and Tapestry parades are a huge loss. There used to be a stage show at the American Gardens Theater in Epcot before it had the roof that was a series of shows within a show. I used to love watching the percussionist. My best guess is that many of these live entertainers eventually were determined to be too costly (cutting into profits), which is a shame because they were a big part of what made WDW special.

I actually didn't realize it was gone until my last trip...the day after the half-marathon, I was walking around the MK and my feet were KILLING me, but I needed to kill time before meeting a friend for lunch. I thought, "Oh, OK, I'll just go watch the Walt Disney movie, kick back with my feet up, etc.," but no. That was an unwelcome surprise!

Discovery island!

I have pics of me on our first trip-standing next to a giant tortoise that escaped his fenced yard. And me holding a large Parrot

Also-the train ride at the Campground

We used to shop there quite often as well...

There used to be a lovely little book and music nook in the shops at DL. I purchased many Disney songtapes and story books with tapes for my dd there. Was really sad the day I realized it had disappeared.

There also used to be a photo shop nearby where you could have pictures taken with a Disney backround. My 2 year old is sitting with Alice and the gang having tea. Love it! Sorry when that went too. She's 20 now, so it gives an idea of the timeline. A lot of the places with character have gone by the wayside over the years.

I completely forgot the Epcot Masquerade and Living Statues!!! Loved them to pieces.. :thumbsup2

However, DGD (who was just about to turn 3 two weeks after that particular trip) was scared to death of them..

This is a good thread! I vaguely remember having breakfast on the Emperess Lily. I do recall Goofy waterskiing as well. I don't remember the Sword & the Stone Ceremony but I am sad that it is no longer there.

I miss the houses on the Backlot Tour and, along those lines, the purpose of the original MGM Studios, before it changed its focus to headlining rides.
