What Disney movies would you recommend

for a 2 year old.

My son LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. We are headed back to Disney in December and I thought it would be fun to watch some of the movies with him ahead of time so that more characters are familiar to him.

I put in Lilo and Stitch (never seen it before) and we lasted about 20 minutes. It just seemed violent and inappropriate for any young child. I think we will try Cinderella since the evil character isn't "that bad."

Any other suggestions for toddler-friendly movies? He is very verbal and does a good job following story lines.

My DD2.5 liked Toy Story 2 (she chose it over the original because Jessie is on the cover!) How about Finding Nemo, Aladdin or Peter Pan? :confused3

DD loves Mary Poppins and Sleeping Beauty, but not sure if those would appeal to a boy of the same age or not. (Although, Prince Philip and Maleficent as a dragon are pretty prominent in SB, so maybe...) I have kind of been pushing the Disney movies as well in preparation for our trip. Doesn't matter, she keeps going back to those two, which I am fine with...SB is kind of scary, but I think that is what she likes about it. She can be scared without any danger of getting 'hurt.' And Mary Poppins? Well, let's just say that it has been a fun challenge to put THAT outfit together as a halloween costume! :lmao:

When my son was "too old to nap" but I had a newborn, we laid down on my bed every single day and watched Mary Poppins. Sometimes he slept, sometimes he watched the entire movie while I rested. But there are no bad guys, the music is great, and it was a time I'll always remember fondly.

Also, find some of the Disney Sing Along videos. They're short, but on a huge variety of topics. All are musical and cute.

On a non-Disney note, try some of the Real Wheels videos. (There goes a Truck, there goes a Bulldozer, There goes a Police Car....) They're funny, educational (well, if you want to be educated about bulldozers) and completely kid friendly. Hit your local library; they may carry them.

Brian is 9 and still pops one into the VCR on occasion.

We went when my dd turned 2. She hadn't known a lot of the characters when we started planning the trip. I had just quit working for Disney after 6 years and it wasn't a happy ending (they closed our store) so I was in my "sick of/mad at Disney" phase  when she was a baby. By the time we got there she new almost all of them. :thumbsup2

We watched Disneyland Fun sing-a-long a lot. This tape was great because it shows the characters like you will see them in parks. Other sing-a-longs would be nice as well. That way your child can see all the characters but doesn't have to sit through an entire movie.
We watched a lot of these type tapes in preparation for our trip.

My son fell in LOVE with Monsters, Inc. at that age...we all did, and good thing, since we had to watch it every day! We have also really enjoyed the Disney Sing-A-Longs, Heffalump movies, Cars, Aristocats, 101 Dalmations, Nemo and Toy Story 1 & 2. I agree -- always thought Lilo and Stitch was awful! Also, Playhouse Disney shows are great.

I second the vote for the Disney Sing-a-Longs. How about, also, Mickey and the Beanstalk? My kids laughed themselves silly watching that one. Fee-fee-fi-fum...fum-fuh-fee-fee!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My DS (2.5) loves Cars, Toy Story 1&2, Monsters, Inc., Nemo...pretty much all the Pixar movies. He also went through a big Peter Pan stage and he also likes the Jungle Book.

I would also like him to watch Cinderella, before he gets too old and also Beauty and the Beast.

Winnie the Pooh!!!! When DS was 2, we'd watch the one that looks "live" -- with puppets, not cartoons --- on Playhouse Disney everday. And with Pooh, you get Piglet's Big Movie, the Heffalump Movie, Tigger something or other. Highly recommend those, no bad themes, and the characters are all over the parks.

He also liked parts of Beauty and the Beast...particularly "be our guest", he just loved. And he liked the Beast and Belle when he met them at the parks. We also watched Stanley and Bear on Playhouse Disney, then went to see the show at MGM. I understand Hanny Manny is also showing up at MGM these days?

I would think he'd get Cars and Nemo...oh, I forgot. DS was totally obsessed with Nemo from about 18 mo to 3 years....completely, totally obesssed. Not really caring about the mom dying, or even asking about where was the mom, just more about the shark (maybe fast forward that part) and Crush and Dory. He also really liked Lion King, but I'd fast forward the stampede scene.

DD2 is now 2 and very into Ariel (although there are some adult themes in that one, so I don't really let her watch it), Cinderella and Belle. We also really like Little Einsteins (breakfast at MGM on Dec 7th!), Pooh, Handy Manny.

The best part about that age is that they think the characters are REAL. DS is now 6 and informed me that the Pooh he saw at Disney Paris was really someone in a costume. But he is willing to go along with tellling his sister that Cinderella really lives in Florida and that when we saw her in Paris, she was visiting her cousin Aurora.

My 20mo DS's faves are Nemo and Cars. He asks to watch one or the other daily.

I would suggest Cars, Finding Nemo, Snow White, Monsters Inc., and Toy Story 1&2. Other non-movie types would be the Disney Sing-A-Long Songs, Little Einsteins, and Bear in the Big Blue House.

Jungle Book??? Cute music and animals. I think that could definately appeal to 2 yr old boys! :)

Our son (3 1/2) and son (<2) loves Dumbo and Peter Pan. They also like the collections of old Disney cartoons.

If you are already there for the holidays, how about Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, or Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas? :santa:

Have fun!

CARS!!!!! (be sure to see them in person at MGM)
Finding Nemo
Toy Story
101 Dalmations
Pooh and Friends

Both of my kids @ age 2 loved Dumbo (because of the train). And I agree with Aliceacc the "There goes a" series is really great. We wore out our train tape.

Finding Nemo has been my daughters favorite from a very young age...we actually wore out the first DVD set, and had to buy a replacement already!

I think it was something with the bright colors, and the constant motion of the water and fish.

Her new favorite is Pooh's Heffalump Movie, just because it is so cute! She loves Lumpy.

I can already tell she is going to be a Disney junkie...she'll watch pretty much anything.

Lots of great suggestions here. My kids favorite non-scary movies are Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, and Toy Story 2. My DD even at almost 5 is still afraid of Bruce in Nemo, and the step mothers, etc. in the princess movies.

Just my 2 cents.... Yes...the beginning of Lilo and Stitch is bad...
FAST FORWARD to where it shows Lilo surfing...
I'm soo glad I lasted thru that part of the movie (yes, the first 20 minutes or so) because now I have watched it over and over and LOVE it...but I skip the beginning everytime...
