What Disney do you collect?

Pins, snow globes, small figurines. This year, I skipped the snow globe and got one of the Gallery of Light shadow boxes. It has a scene from Fantasia in it.

My passion is collecting the Walt Disney Classic Collection (WDCC) figurines. They can get quite pricey. Have found almost all of them on ebay. You tend to run out of room fast!

No one has mentioned the Potato Heads! You can dress them like the characters, or tourists with cameras, Mickey ice cream bars, and etc. Each year they come out with parts for new characters. You can buy a box full at WDW where you choose all the pieces. It's my favorite thing to buy when I am there!

I collect Big Figs, Haunted Mansion & Pirate special event merchandise, Pins, Tinker Bell, Halloween and Christmas items from Tokyo Disney, watches, figurines (wdcc, jim shore, lenox), mickey inspearation statues and the mickey all-star statues and being from Idaho I also collect Potato Heads!

My nephew is absolutely nuts about the pressed pennies, or was the last time or two we went. He's even more of a homebody than I am though and was kind of hoping to stay home this time.

I like The Lion King and Up. The Lion King comes closest to transcending the limits Disney seems to have imposed on itself in the way it made its animated films. As for Up, it's simply beautiful. Everything that went into making it (the animation, music, writing) compliment each other. Anything I collect will have a tendency toward those two films.

I also collect lithographs. Of course these can be gotten fairly easily. Just go to a Disney Store whenever one's available as a pre-order bonus.

I'm trying not to get into pin collecting as a whole because there's just so many. Still I will collect any that have to do with the aforementioned films, and any others that happen to have some special significance to me. It's hard to specify exactly what that would be, because it depends on what's happening in my life and/or at Disney at any given time. In the past I've collected resort and Christmas resort pins. I also have some that Disney gave at Magical Gatherings and any other special events the family and I have been to, like Disney Vacation Club presentations. I don't know what I'd do with every pin if I somehow managed to collect every one that Disney made or will make. I'm sure that's a problem more than a few people wouldn't mind having, though.

I tend to collect the "covert" Mickey stuff and display it around the house. So I have some framed prints of Epcot country buildings (like the Rose N Crown and the French restaurant). I also have some hidden mickey-type candle sconces, Pooh Lenox vase, etc. I like that they are VERY Disney but not "in your face" Disney. I always fear that people will walk into my house and see just how Disney crazed I am (like the girl in Dodgeball with her unicorn collection). So this way, I can be all Disney-fied AND dignified - haha.

:rotfl::lmao:

We have a photo studio in our house, and I can't tell you how many times someone has walked in and been like, "You guys must really like Disney." Then they look around for a few more minutes, and they say, "Wow. You MUST really love Disney!" LOL. We are borderline to the unicorn chick.

We collect - pressed pennies on every trip, loads of pics - and they are up all over the house. My favorite is one of DH and I from our bridal session in front of the castle and it's poster sized in the living room. We have Mickey topiaries on the porch. We have a decent snow globe collection on the fireplace mantel - but these can get kinda pricey. Disney plates - a lot are from Lenox. Lenox figurines (again pricey - so I only have a few.) Stuffed animals and Classic Pooh.

The kids rooms were done in classic pooh when they were little and we have EVERYTHING you can think of. Curtains, sheets, animals, bathroom stuff, rugs, books, posters, banks, baskets, an entire alphabet, etc.

My husband has an entire room devoted to Star Wars. Seriously.

My latest is Disney jewelry. I have earrings, necklaces, watches, rings - and my favorite was a wedding ring that took me nearly 2 years to find.

I'll have to take pics of some of the stuff. I LOVE seeing everyone else's pics.

Here's my kids with a few of their animals:

I love the pictures of the kids!! Did you make these outfits?

I collect the buttons ... you know ... the ones you get at Guest Services. Each vacation warrants a new button or 2 :) I date them on the inside and what (if anything) I was celebrating.

Our house has Disney displayed in every room. Our kitchen is all Disney. We have the Mickey table and matching chairs. The canisters and spice jars from Lenox, the villains canister set, the thimbles hanging on the wall. Our cabinets have the Mickey knobs and our dinnerware is Mickey, Minnie, Donald,Daisy and Goofy. The glasses, mugs, cookie jars are all matching. Our three dog bowls, water bowls and place mats are with the Disney dogs. The bathroom is all Minnie with the shower curtain, rug wall boarder toilet mat and cover. We also had the matching Minnie blind made and the window curtains. Our tv room has the large Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Cruella Devil. I have two Mickey shelves that one holds the Lenox Villains and the other has statues. On our mantle we have the WDCC Villains. Christmas we only decorate in Disney. The entire tree ia all Disney ornaments with Snow White as the tre topper. The stockings are all a different character with the matching stocking holder. We have the animated figures on the side of the fireplace with all the holiday beanies and musicals. Our front porch has the porch greeters with Micey as Santa on our front door. Our wreaths are Mickey and Minny and the other Pooh and Tigger. My most treasured Disney item is my Seiko clock. It has 12 blocks and every other plays two Disney songs as the blocks open and show you a character and then every 1/2 hr rings.

Id love to see pictures of your disney house :)

We started collecting Disney dollars in 2008 and it was fun going from resort to resort to see what they had. Now they are getting much harder to find - always looking to add to our collection.

I collect Disney Dollars and I almost have the entire collection. They have note created new bills for this year (2010) and I've heard that they might stop printing them. That's too bad because it is a very nice collection and had lots of fun adding to my collection.
