Hi

I am on the lighter life programme at the moment, recently I have not been on it as I should be. When you stick to it, it really works, but the price is going up from 46.50 to 66.50 this week. I have known about the price change for some time, but now its here I just cant face paying that much for a diet.

It used to be 3 food packs a day, but they have changed it to 4. There isnt much change in the calorie in take, yet they have changed it???

Any diet ideas I can think of would be great. I have so much lose and being on weight watchers it was taking forever.

Thanks

Michelle

I don't know an awful lot about LL except that it does produce results at a fairly fast pace, however, from what I've read about it I can't see how when you return to normal eating habits you can possibly maintain the loss.

The safe (and lasting) way to lose weight is, unfortunately, slowly - by changing your eating and exercise habits. It's a well known fact that, as long as your calorie intake is less than the calories you burn off each day, you will lose weight.

I am currently doing Slimming World (although not going to classes - mainly because they don't have SW in NI). The principles behind it are fairly simple. You eat a fairly good balance of food each day, with a portion of dairy, two portions of carbs and plenty of fruit and veg as well as meat/fish. If you do green, you can eat lots of pasta/potatoes but not much meat. I have never found that green works for me, mainly because I tend to overeat on the potatoes (by making 'syn' free chips) so I stick to red the majority of the time.

The answer to whether or not it works, like most diets yes it does as long as you stick to it fairly rigidly. I have done SW several times before (sometimes unsuccessfulyy because my willpower has gone out of the window). The first time I lost nearly 4 stone in 7 months. This time, I have been going 5 weeks and have lost 19 lbs (I think - due to weigh in tomorrow). If you want to know more about it, feel free to PM me and I can try and fill you in :)

Sorry it's a long, rambling post

I am doing weight watchers and find for me it really works. The results might not be really quick but I am loosing a healthy 1 to 2lb a week which is what is recommended to maintain the loss. Like Joh says above to keep the weight off once you get to goal you need to be able to adapt the weight loss programme you are on. If you are loosing too much weight too quickly you will not be able to maintain the loss once you start to eat regular foods again.
Since June I have lost almost 50lb which I think for me is great. I really enjoy the weight watchers programme as it enables me to choose exactly what I want to eat, nut like all diets it requires will power and dedication to stick to it.

I'm on the best, cheapest diet there is - eat less and exercise more!!!

Seriously though, a steady, small weight loss is desirable and you can't go back to eating "as normal" - EVER! Most people are overweight, myself included, because they eat too much - simple as that.

A balanced, healthy diet with a sensible exercise plan should be for life - in an ideal world that is - but I am trying!!!

Me & Gavin are following Paul McKenna's advice....

Eat ONLY when you are hungry
Eat SLOWLY
STOP eating when you are full

He also gave a lot of tips for beating cravings and emtional hunger but the main factors are those above.

This is just common sense but it is working for me & Gavin, 11lbs off for me & 9lbs for Gavin in 5 weeks.

Oh, he also stresses you should eat what you want not what you think. ei-if you want something less healthy then so long as you are hungry then that's fine to eat it and chuck out all of you low fat/low sugar low card food that you dont really like.

I am on weight watchers, on points. It really does work, thats only if you stick to the points that you can have each day, i am on 21 points a day. up to now i have lost over 2 stone. basically, to lose weight you need to eat healthily, and the most important thing is to check all the labels and how much saturated fat is in the food, the higher the saturated the worse it is for you! At the end of the day all diets are the same= eat more veg and fruit and cut out the biscuits and cakes and all the high fat content food.plenty of exercise and aim to lose between 1-2lbs per week, high weight losses each week are a result of losing muscle and not fat.

I'm follow Weight Watchers as well. For me, it is important to remember that this is not a diet but a healthy eating plan. I don't think I could have lasted the time it has taken me to lose the weight if I thought at the beginning that I would never have another chocolate bar again. If that was the case, I would have to ask why I wanted to lose weight to begin with.

I wanted to lose weight so that I could enjoy me life. Low calorie sensible eating combined with exercise will get you results.

Well I think Minniespal is motivation to us all. I'm trying so hard to cut out the bad stuff and eat more of the good, can't exercise this week though as my back is bad again so I'll push more next week.
Just wish I had the time and money to join a proper weight watchers class but there's not one near me.

When I do weightwatchers (properly) it does work, I just need the willpower to go along with it

I'm on a full fat, red meat and beer diet. :thumbsup2
I'm putting on loads of weight and blubber. :thumbsup2
So I can confidently say it's working 100%. :lmao: :rotfl2:

...but seriously, whichever diet you go on, good luck.

So I guess you'll soon be wearing an 'I beat anorexia' t-shirt? :rotfl2:

same with me....i got back to exercising 5 times a week....about 4 to 5 miles a day on the elliptical trainer..

and i eat what my body tells me it needs.....sounds stupid, but i've found that my cravings are directly related to deficiencies so i don't ignore them...
but i don't overeat anything...

Weight Watchers for me.
Works a treat every time, as long as I stick to it!

I am trying to loose weight before i go to work at wdw but being at uni makes it hard with all those tempting take aways and junk food!

Slimming world and tons of excercise usually work for me :sunny:

I`ve tried joining clubs but they don`t work for me (as I can`t follow a diet!)
However if I eat sensibly and exercise I can knock off the weight. I`m just seriously lacking motivation, willpower................at the moment.
I seem to be on a 5 year cycle where I lose 2 stone then over the next 5 years I put it back on

put on a bit of weight after they discovered i had a thyroid problem , gave me radio iodine and slowed my thyroid right down ,now trying to get it regulated, the dose of thyroxine was working great and was losing weight without any problem then they decided to cut it down , back in a few weeks to see how its working, but still have a load of the higher ones just in case i need to lose more [which i do], but don`t tell anyone
