My son is 9 my daughter is 12.

I wanted to know what the kids wear to dinner? My daughter will dress nice, my son hates it.
I have pair of docker slacks OR docker shorts, which is more appropriate for a young boy at dinner. HE has "hawaiian" button down shirts to wear, so his top will be nice.

thanks!

Hi, its Beth, we're on the same cruise.....lol

I picked up Michael some nice shorts, nothing fancy, and the button down Hawaiian shirts as well. Of course he will wear his tennis shoes to dinner.
DS(15) is going to wear nice docker pants and button down shirts.

On our 4-night cruise, my DS, 7, wore khaki pants and a collared shirt. Some children did wear nice shorts and a nice shirt. In reality, the dress was not as big of a deal as I made it out to be.

My DS is 9 and here is what we are planning: On formal and semi-formal he is wearing very nice pants and dress shirt. On nights that there is a show, he is wearing dockers and polo shirts. On other nights that he will go to the lab just after eating, I'm letting him wear nice shorts.

I think it fits all around! But, we have 14!!! nights to plan for. I just pulled all his clothes out this morning and they are ready for the suitcase.

On regular nights he always wore khakis and a shirt with buttons and a collar. On formal night he a jacket and tie and semi formal a tie without the suit coat. I have since purchased a tuxedo for him so this summer he will be in black tie for formal nights.

DD will be 5 & DS will be 7 on our next cruise. DD wears a dress to dinner. If I let her, she would wear her blue Cinderella dress shown below EVERY night! LOL! She wears that on formal night & another easter/holiday dress on semiformal night. DS has two suits and he wears one on each formal night with a tie. He wears a polo shirt or button down shirt & tie with khakis the other nights. That is HIS choice. If I let him wear a tie with a polo shirt...he would.

DS was 6 at the time and wore khaki pants with button down for formal nights, but wore nice shorts with polo shirts the other nights.

DS was 6 last summer, he wore khakis with a polo most evenings. He wore a button up and tie on the night we went to Tritons (4day cruise). DD was 8 and she wore either sundresses or skirts and tops. We are doing a 7 day in Dec and for Formal night we are getting a tux for DS (he loves to dress up and look "handsome") and DD is getting a flower girl type dress. I will probably have DS wear the tux on semi formal also.

Lisa, I loved the picture of your daughter in her cinderella dress. I thought that was fun to see the little ones come to dinner dressed in their various costumes. My children are much older dd13 will be wearing a long dress for formal night and ds15 will be wearing a tux. The other nights it will be dresses for dd and slacks and dress shirts for ds. We actually look forward to dressing for dinner it just makes us feel like we,re doing something special ,which we are. Robin

My DD wore sundresses, or skorts with a nice top most nights. DS wore docker type pants and a polo or open necked shirt most times. I did have some of the zip off pants, and he wore those a couple of nights. Formal/Semi Formal he had a nice blue blazer with blue and gray pants (blue for formal, gray for semiformal), dress shirt and tie. Got those from JC Penneys at a pretty good price.

I do admit that he wore sandals a couple of nights, because his dress shoes were hurting his feet. And one night (on our 10 night cruise), he really fought over coming to dinner, so I let him wear a open necked shirt with a pair of shorts. My focus was that the part that people saw looked appropriate. No one could see his legs/feet under the table, and he was more cooperative, which made the evening go easier!

My DS's have cruised when the yougest was 4 and the last time the oldest was 11. They have worn khaki/dockers type pants and golf or hawaiian type shirts on casual nights with dress shoes and navy sport coats with dress shirt and ties on formal and semi formal nights.
