What did your childhood yard have that your current yard doesn't?

A yard? When I lived in Philly we just had a very little space for the garbage cans surrounded by a cinder block fence. As I said in another thread, the back of my childhood house was separated by the backs of the houses on the next street by just an alley. We had nothing back there.

We had a couple houses, but my favorite: Grape vines, apricot tree, avocado tree, plum tree, lighted playhouse (The Mad Magazine Clubhouse), incinerator, clothes line. Omg I loved that back yard.

Swing set, cherry trees, mulberry tree, a brick barbecue grill, an old chicken coop

1/2 acre lot so we could play wiffleball and have enough room for base paths, outfielders, and the ridge of the roof as the border for home runs.

A nice sledding hill. Though we don't seem to get much snow anymore here (same town), so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

Under age 12 would be a play house.

Over age 12, after we moved, it would be chickens & ducks.
