What did you spend this Christmas?

We budget about $700 for gifts and miscellaneous, including entertainment costs. Additionally, we budget about $700 for a weeklong roadtrip to visit family.

I would like to get the gift budget down as our kids are getting older and we cut down on gift exchanges with extended family. If that makes me "scroogy," so be it. I am happy to spend the travel and entertainment costs.

I went way over budget even though the big money-buster was averted due to a partial side of my family wanting to just do $50 random gift cards instead of actual individual gifts.

Get this: I have NO idea where the money went.

I did have three surprise presents that I didn't plan on needing: people I thought wouldn't give me a gift sent me a gift! I gave them gifts last year and they did to me. But then we said we were stopping but they forgot.

I just need one more present but I had NO idea what to get my husband.
