I am going to attempt to pack light. What have you packed be never needed and would not bring again?

*****Just Back****** :bounce:
Thanks for all your tips. I was able to pack light.
The only they I wished I had brought was a light up clock. I woke up a couple of times. Had no idea what time it was. Got up to find clock in cabin and it was only 2am.
Brought and didn't really need over the door hanger.
Did not bring or need extension cord.
Did not bring duct tape or hair dryer (one in cabin was okay for me).
Saw another cabin, which brought a hanging shoe organizer -I can see that might be helpful if you have a lot of toiletries.
Thanks to these boards things went great.
Had such a good time looking into cruising again with Disney next year!

Under water camera - our kids were too little for snorkeling or excursions, so we didn't see anything interesting under water to take pictures of.

Arm floaties for the kids. They never went into deep enough water to need them.

All the extra clothes and shoes. We had a lot of clean clothes to bring home.

Denae

Duct tape, over door shoe holder, way, way to many clothes.

Clothes mostly. I have never taken the duct tape or OTDSH (but I may try that on our December cruise). I have an addiction to shoes so I take too many (so DH says) but also wear them. Our February cruise/WDW trip I had a few things I didn't wear but I had packed for weather that we didn't end up with. We generally are on the Magic and I have given up taking panty hose - like that saved me lots of space!

We did use the underwater camera. I liked not having to worry about the digital getting messed up at CC.

Oh...boy we ended up with alot of things that didn't get used. LOTS of clothes....found the girls and I...and DH wore swimsuits and coverups almost every day...so all those shorts were a waste of space...next time I'm going to pack 2 pairs. Way to many "dinner" outfits...we found that we changed right before dinner...then changed out of the dinner outfit right after dinner...so we wore it maybe 2 hours. Next time I'm NOT going to pack a diffrent outfit for every night at dinner...but instead maybe three...that can me mixed and matched to make enough outfits for all seven nights. We didn't end up going to semi formal night...but I'll probley pack for it so we can go this next time...But I won't pack a seperate outfit for palos also...but just use the same. I figure I can always use the ships laundry service to have what I need cleaned....hm what else...WAY to many shoes...but I figure if I'm cutting down on clothes...shoes should be cut back also.

We did use our over the door holder...but not as much as I was thinking we would. I could have use a smaller one...

I don't think we used our extention cord...At least I don't remember using it. We also didn't use duck tape...didn't even pack it..but we did meet someone at the cruise meet that needed some..cuz her luggage ended up being broken....the zipper or something...so luckly some one did have some.

Also we didn't use...
An alarm clock....
Only a couple underwater cameras...not the 6 that I packed.
I went digital...so we didn't use as many rolls of film as I planned for and packed.. I think we used...maybe 7 rolls...Plus all the digital cards.
Camcorder...didn't use at all.

Most of all...it was just WAY to much clothes.

I am glad we packed 3 swimsuits each...that came in real handy.

Way too many clothes.....whoever said "pack all you the clothes think you need and then take 1/2 out and it will still be too much" was a genious.... No need for "large" tooth paste, deodorant, tan oil, mouthwash, shampoo (if you have a favorite) etc. we bring the small and toss out the extra Friaday night.

I agree, didn't use the extension cord. There were two outlets near the vanity in the room. But didn't spend much time on hair so..

Had duct tape used it once to stick a note on the door.

Mixing and matching clothes is a great idea. For a 3 day cruise, I took one pair of black pants that I had different tops for and was fine.

Swimsuits didn't dry very quickly so more of those would be good.

I didn't take a hair dryer and the one provided was fine but my hair is short and as I said above I didn't foo foo much at all.

I took water shoes but could have just wore my Birks to the beach.

I was glad I had clothes pins, glow bracelets for the kids and a dry erase board for notes on the door.

You're going to get many different thoughts on this topic, as we're in the minority about the clothes.

We took a different outfit for each night (DH, DD and I), and wore them! :teeth: DH brought a suit AND a tux. DD (age 10) wore three pairs of shorts (we brought 5), and DH brought 6 pair (wore three). So shorts were the only clothes we over-packed. (Also took a different pair of shoes for each dinner outfit, and DD brought three pairs.)

Every family is different about what they packed and didn't use, and those who didn't pack something and wished they'd brought it. We pretty much learned what we did and didn't need after our first cruise, so it's a live and learn, and a fun one at that! :flower:

My youngest DD (12) took 15 pairs of shoes......but I think she wore them all.... :rotfl2:
As far a swim suits being "wet" another reason I love my verandah.....rince them in some soap in the sink, place them on the verandah and next day they are as good as new!!!!!

I can relate!

Concerning the extension cord--I wouldn't have been able to dry my hair without it. My hair dryer has the large rectangle plug and it wouldn't fit into the outlets the way the outlets are installed. I could flip it upside down but then it wouldn't plug in. The extension cord solved the problem. If you don't have a rectangle plug then you wouldn't need an extension cord.

I always tell people, pack your bags and then remove half of what you packed(I read it on the board and pass on the info). You still may bring home clean clothes. Panty hose, I leave them home also. Shoes, for us less is more attitude on shoes. One pair for dress, one pair for casual, one pair of casual sandals, and a pair of water shoes or water sandals per each person.

After one of our DCL cruises I made a list of what clothes we actually wore and if only two pairs of shorts were worn by one person, I only packed two pairs for the next cruise the following year for that person. That system has worked out great. If we run short of clothes the ship offers cleaning services.

Glad you told me...I'll leave mine at home too!!!

Money....I wish I didn't bring so much. :rotfl2: You know, that big wad that just sits in your pocketbook... And my husband looked like George Costanza with his big thick wallet hanging off his behind. I should have brought the small handbag instead of the big tote bag. I mean, it was getting in the way, too. Every time I opened my bag it was always falling out, what a pain in the rear. There was so much money I couldn't find my lipstick when I needed it. I usually bring my fanny pack but I wouldn't have been able to carry anything else.

If you don't have a verandah, be sure to pack some clothes pins! It really helps to hang them on the line in the bathroom!
