What did you have for dinner last night?

We BBQ'd for Mother's Day, we had tri tip marinated and grilled in a peach whiskey bbq sauce, chicken, coleslaw, salad, pasta salad, potato wedges, sausages, hot dogs.......homemade cheesecake for dessert. :)

I've never made tri-tip but that recipe sounds excellent!

Homemade burritos here. I actually learned to make refried beans in the crock pot.

Oh, was that hard to do? The refried beans in the crock pot?

Last night we had BWW, terrible service yet again. Sometimes I wonder why we go there at all.....

My favorite yummy tuna sandwich, the tuna might not have been happy, but my taste buds were.

~~ I love you Phil and you will forever be with me! Forever my very best and most special friend! I love you to no end. ~~

BBQ, we had turkey burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, fruit salad, lemon bars, pear crisp, ice cream......

That sounds like a whole lot of salad goin' on Pixie.... but tasty.... :)

I dined with Oscar Mayer plus bar b que chips and a small Pepsi. Yum....

sounds similar to what I had, leftovers from BBQ. LOL I had a cheddar brat, with macaroni salad, cottage cheese and some BBQ Fritos. :)

Cottage cheese you say? How did that slip in there? :faint: ;)

Last night I just snacked upon papaya and mango salsa (From Trader Joes) with tortilla chips.... I love that salsa. It is the chips that one needs to keep an eye on, OK so just enough of the salsa might make you a bit gassy too :faint: .. oh well...such is life!

Hey cottage cheese with that papaya mango salsa sounds delish! DD loves mango, I'll have to keep an eye out for that. I made some homemade mango muffins the other day, it took like 6 mangoes that I had to patiently wait for days hoping they'd ripen, turn them, talk nicely to them, they finally ripened then made them into muffins that turned out like crap. :rotfl2:

I breaded and fried some pork chops, au gratin vegs and garlic bread.

Hey Cagirlie, that is funny about the muffins, but pray tell how did they turn out like crapola? Was there too much bran? Because if so, well the end result is better left imagined than realized, if you take my meaning. Try one of those tasty scone mixes, I just forgot the name brand, but you can find it at Cost Plus, if there is one near where you live, if not, you can order them on line. Probably your local grocery stores have some really nice mixes like that. Anyway, I love scones..... please bake some for me, then next day air it OK? :)

Oh I also love love love garlic bread, so while your at it please, add that to my scone shipment.. thank ya' :) hmmm.... yum..

Oh man, you're right!!! Papaya Mango Salsa with cottage cheese, that sounds so good!!!! Sorry about your muffins. LOL I love mango but it's so hard to cut up that I rarely use them.

Last night I made taco salad, I used leftover hamburger patties for the meat and had some leftover rice from tacos last week. Chopped some cucumber, onion, olives, avocado and lettuce, added some cheese and Nacho Cheese Doritos and had mine with my homemade Balsamic dressing, it was so good!!! I also had cilantro, cabbage and carrots in with the lettuce. There are leftovers so I may do that for dinner again tonight.....LOL

I had Five Guys for the first time last weekend, it was soooooo good!!!!

Last night we had Chinese, Dynasty Beef (restaurant special), Lemon Chicken, Beef Tomato Chow Mein. YUM

We are supposed to be getting a Five Guys here... is it better than In & Out Burger? Or Fat Burger? They are hard to beat!

Homemade Chili here last night.

Lori

Well I'm not an I&O fanatic, I like it but I think there are much better burgers out there. I thought FG was much better than I&O, they have multiple burger and topping choices and I think that's what I liked the most about it, they also make their fries fresh and you can chose salted or cajun style, we did cajun and they were goooood!

In & Out, seem to be lacking lately. We have a place here called Scoopers, that is very good, and it's just a old drive in.... it needs to go on Diner's, Drive- ins and Dives....

Tacos! Yum....
It is good to know that there are still a few actual vintage drive ins in business. Unfortunately I cannot think of any in Northern Ca. but if I should ever find myself in Sparks, Nevada I will have to try Scoopers, interesting name too.
A Five Guys opened several years ago in a city near by, but I have yet to try it. Maybe next month?

TJs Drive-In in Anderson, CA was awesome for shakes and dipped cones. They had actual food too, but I loved them for the ice cream. They closed down last year while I was in Afghanistan (was SO disappointed, it's less than a mile from my house) because one of the owners was diagnosed with cancer and they just can't keep it up. I think the TJs in Red Bluff was a different owner, it's still open, but it's just a walk up window, not a real Drive-In.

Hal's Eat 'Em Up in Red Bluff, CA is also quite awesome. It's not quite as cool as TJs was, again no roller skating carhops, but the ice cream and shakes are awesome; I have had the food there and it's wonderful.

Don't know what you refer to as Northern California, but if it's south of Sacramento you should drive north for a couple of hours and visit the real NorCal, we have all kinds of great small towns around here where you can make some great finds.
