In Sept. we are going to give our DD a surprise and let her go on The Treasure Hunt. My husband has an activity that day and I will be alone with my 13 month old DD. Any suggestions on what I can do to kill time with my toddler while my 6yr old is doing The Treasure Hunt. Thanks!!!

I assume you are talking about the Pirate Cruise from the GF?
If so, my DD did this in Nov. and we had our 8mo DS with us. That day it was raining and they did not cancell the cruise. We didn't want to travel with the baby in the rain so we just hung out at the GF. We ate something at Gaspirillas, I fed/changed my DS. We went shopping in the the shops there. We relaxed in the lobby and DS took a nap in his stroller. I took that time to look at the park maps. If it didn't rain we would've rented a pontoon boat to cruise the lake. We love doing that! The 2hrs. does go by fast.

BTW, DD loved it and came back with a bag full of loot! She ate on the boat and got a bandana.

I am new and still learning what is gf ? this activity sounds fun.

I'm sorry I almost forgot

I am excited to be planning my first trip to wdw.:D

We rented the mouseboats while the kiddies were on the Pirate Cruise. They have them at the same location as where the Pirate Cruise leaves from. They open at 10am (the cruise starts at 9:30), so we rented them from 10-11. The cost was around $30.00 and it was a lot of fun!!

I think this sounds like fun but I am not sure how I feel about my 8 year old going off without us with strangers.......

The two women who run the cruise keep everyone orderly and from what I understand have been doing the cruise for years. It's not a free for all boat..they each have a seat that they must sit in and they wear a life vest. They must buddy up with a partner and they are all kept together when hunting for treasure.

I see it as being no different than letting your child go on a field trip at school. My son is five and I had no problem letting him go when he was four. The staff are background checked and I don't think they are going to steal the kids or let anything happen to them :) Sometimes as parents, we need to cut the cord :)
