After your wedding, what did you do with your wedding gown? Did you preserve it, roll it up in a ball, toss it on shelf, throw it away, etc.?

Mine is rolled up in a basket   ! I never got around to bringing it to the cleaners to be preserved. :D

My dad took it to be preserved while I was on my honeymoon. It's in a very large box at his house.

Took it to the cleaners, and it still hanges in my closet.

I had mine preserved. It is in a box in my loft along with my 2 bridesmaides dresses from when I was younger and my christening gown.

Mine is clean and on a hangar in the back of my guest room closet. My mom still has hers too.

Mine was also cleaned and hangs in a spare closet.

Well after my wedding it was cleaned and preserved.....2 yrs later my sister wore my dress...as it was we were similar sizes, it was very expensive, and was her tastes also....After her wedding she brought it to a very reputable Northern Virginia Dry Cleaners....

4yrs later I was watching about horror stories about wedding dresses not actually being in the boxes ( I had a window on my box so I knew it was my dress), dresses not being cleaned when they were supposed to .......

I got nervous and decided to look.....we to my horror my dress had never been cleaned by the 2nd cleaners....There were terrible stains that had wicked about 5 inches up from the bottom...and it had never been unbusseled.....I was devistated....I took it back to the cleaners that had preserved the dress the first time as they have a reputation as being able to work wonders.....After looking at it they stated the obvious...they probably would have been able to work with it originally but they couldn't promise anything now.....I decided to let them try.....It helped a little.....

So, even if your dress has been preserved....if it wasn't done or was done improperly your dress could be ruined.....

I can't bear to throw thousands of dollars away...so my dress still sits in my house in the box...I'm hoping that when my dd's get married we can find someone to rework the lace so it can be worn again and hide the damage....

Mine was aslo preserved and it is now in a box in a closet here. I am not sure what I will ever do with it as I have a feeling that it will be too short for anyone to wear in the future. But I can't bear to throw it out as it was hand made for me by my cousin, so it sits there still.

Cut mine up and made a Christening outfit that my children wore.

I didn't have the money for cleaning or preserving, so wrapped it in tissue paper myself and put it in a box, got it out a couple years ago (as we were nearing our 25th anniversary and I had dreams of wearing it for a renewal LOL NO WAY could I fit into it!!) and it was yellow in most places, but not a uniform yellow..... I didn't know what to do with it, but didn't want to just throw it away and figured it was ruined anyway, so filled the tub with water (hot) and oxyclean. Soaked that dress for hours, and then did it again and it came out almost completely white!! Looks good enough to wear again. If you are going to throw one out anyway, It is not such a bad idea to try oxyclean :)
I just hung it up to dry after a rinse and then used my steamer iron on the wrinkles.
It is now in a tote.

Mine was preserved and is stilling in my old room at my mom's house until I have room for it.

My mom's SIL recently took her wedding dress out and her 12 year old daugther took pictures in it and the photographer did some antiquing to the pictures...they are just beautiful! If I ever have a little girl, I will definitely do that. Such a great idea.

Mine was preserved almost 18 years ago and sits in a box at my mothers house.

My has been preserved by the drycleaners. It's under my bed in a large box.

Laura...that's a great idea! I know DD will never use and I'm not wearing it again.;)

About 5 years after I wore my dress my niece borrowed it for her wedding.....it has since been cleaned & preserved & is in a box in my closet.

Mine is stored in my mother's attic with hers.

I had mine preserved in one of those airtight boxes - or whatever they are:confused: . Anyway, I had this done incase one of my girls would like to wear it someday.:bride:

Mines preserved in a display box. The only time in the past 9 years that it came out of the attic was when we moved. ;)
