Well after my wedding it was cleaned and preserved.....2 yrs later my sister wore my dress...as it was we were similar sizes, it was very expensive, and was her tastes also....After her wedding she brought it to a very reputable Northern Virginia Dry Cleaners....
4yrs later I was watching about horror stories about wedding dresses not actually being in the boxes ( I had a window on my box so I knew it was my dress), dresses not being cleaned when they were supposed to .......
I got nervous and decided to look.....we to my horror my dress had never been cleaned by the 2nd cleaners....There were terrible stains that had wicked about 5 inches up from the bottom...and it had never been unbusseled.....I was devistated....I took it back to the cleaners that had preserved the dress the first time as they have a reputation as being able to work wonders.....After looking at it they stated the obvious...they probably would have been able to work with it originally but they couldn't promise anything now.....I decided to let them try.....It helped a little.....
So, even if your dress has been preserved....if it wasn't done or was done improperly your dress could be ruined.....
I can't bear to throw thousands of dollars away...so my dress still sits in my house in the box...I'm hoping that when my dd's get married we can find someone to rework the lace so it can be worn again and hide the damage....
