What did you do today to save money?

We stayed home yesterday so we spent no money. We had a good crockpot meal and ice cream for dessert.

Sending in my hunts ketchup rebate form, and calling on my American Express which has a 0 balance since they are offering 4.99% on life of balance transfer. My Bank of America has an awful rate and they refuse to drop the APR (they merged with MBNA which is the absolute worse company) to match with my other cards, so I will just transfer and save the APR.

Day Two of the Intervention Program for the Compulsive Eater-Outers, and so far so good!

Making Shrimp stir-fry for dinner tonight!

Anne

I donated a bunch of DDs clothes and books to the local mission store. It frees up the clutter of the house and I get the small tax deduction.

Baked Bread!!!

My step mother dropped off some beef stew, so I have bread rising as we speak. Here's dinner! :cool1: And not having to go to the grocery store means no wasting gas.

Yummy, that sounds good!

My attempt at saving money failed yesterday/this morning. I tried making my kids oatmeal in the crockpot, apple cinnamon, but it didn't have enough brown sugar in it (I followed a new recipe) so they wouldn't eat it. They'd rather have the sugary dinosaur eggs kind, but we're out so it's cold cereal instead.

And we're running low on milk so DH will probably stop at the gas station on the way home and pick it up for $2 more than the grocery store, but at least we won't have the "add-ons" that we get at the store, so I guess this will actually save us money.

OT: Bookgirl, I love your signature, that is so funny :rotfl2:

Nothing yet- but I am planning on making a menu for INEXPENSIVE home cooked meals for the week. Also- I am hitting the library for this week's reading material.
Over the weekend we had DS 4's birthday party- kept it simple just pizza and cake with the cousins- lots of DS's friends have big parties- but DS loved his little party. Also DH saved us $10 by assembling DS's new bike instead of taking the assembled one of the floor at TRU. (Also had $3 coupon)

Made sure I used my Giant Eagle grocery card to get my discounts when I went food shopping.

We are big chicken eaters in our house....I started to use all of the potato chips that get smashed or crushed in the bottom of the bag (and no one will eat) to coat small chicken pieces and my family loves this! I buy the boneless/skinless chicken breasts and cut them into nugget sized pieces and dip them in one egg (scrambled) and then the potato chip crumbs. Any leftover crumbs, I just sprinkle them over the top (you can also use tortilla chips or snack crackers) Bake these in the oven for 45 minutes (be sure to spray PAM in your corning ware) along with rice or noodles and you have a yummy supper!

I brought my lunch again today....saved $10!! Although it is extrememly hard!! I went to the gym to workout on my lunch so I felt I at least got away from the office.

Chomp! Chomp! I exercised, too, a good way to keep the cardiologist away. We visisted the Bunny bakery outlet for bread yesterday.

Tonight for dinner I'm defrosting some homemade soup that my mom gave to me, not only was it free...I don't have to cook!

I'm leaving for the vet in about 15 minutes...can't imagine how I'll save money on that one:eek: .

well last night nobody wanted to eat the Pork Roast because I cooked it differently and it didn't taste as good as the Lipton Onion Soup method.

So tonight, it is being re-incarnated with a couple cans of Cream of Chicken Soup, some noodles, and a bag of peas from my freezer. All meat pretty much tastes the same once you pour a can of Cream of Chicken Soup over it.

Thanks, That's an actual scenerio with my nephews, my brother doesn't think it's funny at all when I make comments like that, but I figure if I spend $100 at the mall or zoo or museum or wherever it is that they con me into visiting then my enjoyment of spending the day with them and then giving them back when they're tired and cranky and sugar hyped is his price for a day of child free time.

I love them but they're expensive. And by the time the outing is over Aunt T needs a nap.;)

Was going to stop at McDonalds and get the kids lunch. Kept on driving and came home instead and made what we had at home. Probably saved about $10.

I have a similar nacho recipe that we got from a trip to Niagara Falls.

Put nachos on a cookie sheet
pour (if you have the liquid) or sprinkle cheddar cheese on them
brown some burger and add taco seasoning - this goes next
for my kids, this stops here

but I like to add, green peppers and tomatoes and dip in salsa/sour cream

bake at 400 until the cheese is melted.

Easy and delicious!

Made a batch of chicken brocolli and rice caserole for lunches over the next couple of days. Had everything on hand so used up pantry items and no lunch at the ff places.

Bundled my cable, internet and phone together. I was already using the same company for everything but long distance anyway--just getting separate bills. I will save a minimum of $70/month! :yay:

*sigh* Still too sick to get a latte. Saved $2.75!!

I'm also taking advantage of a free Pilates class at my free gym tonight. Yeeha!

And I made dinner (chicken pot pie) from scratch except the pie crusts. Probably cost less than $5 total for 8 servings, two full meals.
