What did you buy for your trip?

This year we are buying fun accessories! Lanyards for Universal, buttons, custom ears, shirts :D

Portable charging bank for everyone's devices.

Really can't suggest this enough. Depending out how much the specific bank will charge your phone (cheaper ones may not hold a full charge) and how much you use it you may want two. The MDE app hogs your battery.

I don't regret not buying cheap ponchos. On several trips we never needed them. When we did I bought Disney ponchos for $10 or so. That was like 8 years ago and I still have them. They stay in the bag I always take to sporting events, amusement parks, etc. and of course subsequent trips to Disney. In the long run the cost is negligible.

The two purchases that really transformed Disney for me were a small, light, portable charger so we would never have to worry about running our phones down using Wi-Fi in the parks, and a sports band for my eyeglasses so I could finally just leave them on no matter what I rode. Having dropped my eyeglasses out of my parks bag without realizing it in the unloading zone of Space Mountain at 2am before, the latter is probably more significant than the former for me. Having your broken eyeglasses handed to you by a cast member at 2:10 in the morning, then having to grope your way through a psychedelically illuminated Magic Kingdom back to the bus stop is something I only ever want to have to do that one time.
This reminds me:
I wear contacts, and am 100% non functional without them. I always carry adn extra set of lenses and solution or rewetting drops. I have only had to replace a lens in the parks one time, but boy was I glad I had it!

The one thing I but to insure I have with me is Body Glide (or similar anti-chafing balm). A heat rash from chafing in the wrong place ruins a trip quickly because there is no easy way to get rid of it after it happens. Other than that, we buy little odds and ends we need on trips when there are sales, mostly first aid kit type things and sunscreen.

As for a camera, I use to bring my big DSLR and lenses. They become heavy weights as the day goes on. If I take it, I only take my 17-50mm F/2.8 lens unless I am going to AK. The heft 70-200mm lens is not fun to carry around. The more I go, the more I realize I do not need that much reach.
