What did/will you do for your 25th wedding anniv??

We celebrated our 25th just last month. DW and I went to Fiji for the occasion. On the day of our anniversary, we renewed our vows on the beach. It was an expensive trip, but it was 25 years. Not too many people make it that long now days. Heck, there's no guarantee you'll even live that long.

One of the side benefits was that Fiji is across the international dateline, so we got to celebrate the occasion twice. We renewed our vows on the 19th in Fiji. But the next day was the 19th in America, so we got to celebrate our anniversary on that day too!

For our 25th, the kids threw a dinner party for us after we had a Mass at church where we renewed our vows. Then we went on a two week Hawaii vacation ALL BY OURSELVES! LOL, Even now the "kids" seem to want to share all our vacations! For our 35th, we spent a week at WDW with, yep, you guessed it.......our adult son and his SO.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at WDW and stayed at AKL. We even got an autographed picture from Minnie and Mickey. Since we spent our honeymoon at WDW (when it was just Magic Kingdom!) it was appropriate that we spent our 25th there too, this time with kids!

The year we were married we bought a car. Part of the promotion at the time was a $500 savings bond. We decided that the bond would be our nest egg for our 25th anniversary trip - to Disney World!!!

We still have 7 years left to plan the big event but we're already talking about where we'll stay. By then DS will be in college and DD a senior in high school so this trip will be adults only!!!!!

Have this one worked out already. Only been married coming up 2 years.

I was telling hubby how we should renew our wedding vows on our 50th at WDW, he said no we will be old and crusty by then ( which we wil be nearing 80). So he suggested we do it on our 25th wedding anniversary.

I have many ideas for our 25th Anniv. next year... some of them are a wee bit funny....

Like .. I would like to be married outside on the steps of my Illinois hometown Catholic church... and when the priest would ask me why we were there... I would tell him bluntly... They did not want us then... and you can't have us now!!!! oh my.. LOL.....
oh and I would love to print our picture in the local hometown newpaper with the caption... "Pay Up!"... for all those who said we would never make it! LOL....

but I digress I don't think I would ever do any of those things.. but it is just fun to daydream.. LOL

For our 25th we would like to renew our vows at the Newman Center in Carbondale, Il where we were married. We would also like to have a big reception so everyone could share our day with us!

Disney World of course!!

It was the Millenium year so we booked the Grand Floridian (10 years in advance too!!) Concierge for New Years Eve. Stayed 5nights and had the BEST time! Truly very special...
