What did we forget? Ahh - yes.. The cranberry sauce!

Yuck. Neither for me. I do buy the can for my DH, he likes it. However, every other year we finish the meal and then realize the can is still in the pantry unopened.

We have both at our dinner. I like the whole cranberries.I also like watching the jellied stuff slide out of the can.:)

Homemade! It makes the whole house smell like the holidays!

* 2 (12 ounce) packages fresh cranberries
* 1 orange, zested
* 3 cinnamon sticks
* 2 cups orange juice
* 2 cups packed brown sugar

In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, orange zest, cinnamon, orange juice, and brown sugar. Add enough water to cover, and bring to a boil over high heat. Immediately reduce heat, and simmer for about 1 hour, or until the sauce has thickened. Taste for sweetness, and adjust with additional sugar if necessary. You can not overcook, so continue cooking until you have a good thick consistency. Let mixture cool, then refrigerate in a covered container.

I have only tried jellied and I LOVE it, however, please continue sharing your homemade recipes!!!!! I would love to try it this year!

Share your recipes so my tubular canned deliciousness can have a buddy at the table!

Whole berry fresh cranberry sauce. My kids call it "razzleberry dressing.":goodvibes

I love it!!!! We love Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol, we watch it every Thanksgiving!!!

I prefer whole cranberry sauce, but it has tobe the Ocean Spray canned variety.

Homemade but I use wine in mine.

You will need to combine in a saucepan, 1 12oz. bag of cranberries, 1 C. Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 C. sugar, 2 tsp. finely grated tangerine zest and a 3" cinnamon stick. Cook stirring and bring too a boil then reduce heat and simmer 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and discard the cinnamon stick. Serve warm or cool.

Home made, whole berry. Like it's hard to make home made. 2 cups sugar, 2 cups water, 1 bag of cranberries, boil 10 minutes, done.
Jellied is a waste of time to me.

I replace 1/4 cup of the water with Grand Marnier and add a little orange zest. Delicious!!!

I would love the recipe for Cranberry Crunch Salad. It sounds wonderful.

Be happy to share :goodvibes ! I have been makng this many, many, years and everyone seems to enjoy, plus it is festive for holidays too!:thumbsup2

1 can whole cranberries
1 lg box jello (fave red flavor)
1 can pineapple
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup celery
1 cup hot water
1/2 cup cold water
(sometimes I add chopped apples)

Dissolve jello with boiling water stirring a couple minutes, mix in cranberries and cold water, chill until it begins to firm some. Then fold in drained pineapple, nuts, celery and chill until firmed solid. Container can be a bowl, round mold, or cake pan and when ready to serve garnish top w/whip cream or cool whip, and sprinkle w/nuts or pineapple, etc. I like the to make day before, also suggest leaving a couple servings out before adding "nuts" in case anyone is allergic, like our DD.

You might check the internet also, there are many similar good varieties of this recipe. :)

I like canned jellied. We eat it quite a bit. However, around the holidays when cranberries are readily available we like it homemade - definitely cooked. I don't like raw cranberries, or cranberries combined with orange, but otherwise I love cranberries! Our favorite is cranberry applesauce. I probably make it once a week from October through January.

I love jellied cranberry sauce but buy Ocean Spray in the can. I tried the whole once but did not like it.

I like the jellied version...no, I take that back. I LOVE the jellied in the can. I basically make all of the regular dishes but the cranberry sauce is what I look forward to the most.

Well, that and the pecan pie.

I prefer homemade. I use the basic recipe, but substitute 1/3 cup of water with OJ, add a little orange zest, and a cinnamon stick. Yummy and it's great on sandwiches.

Gotta be jellied. Don't like chewing on the skins in whole berry.

I make a whole berry sauce, a jellied sauce, an orange cranberry relish, and this year I also bought a jar of pommegranate-cranberry relish. I can't wait to try it.

Definitely jellied. Preferably store brand, not Ocean Spray. I love the lines on the glob of muck after removing it from the can.

Fresh cranberries only for breads, muffins, etc.

Jim

We have already gone though a few bags of fresh already. We love them. I cook up a bag with dinner and save some for on toast in the morning. Some mornings I make a bag just for toast and we eat it warm, we can literally polish off a loaf of bread and a bag of cranberries between the 5 of us in a morning. It is soooo good!!!

When I was a kid I was all about the jellied, but now, fresh, whole berries for me!
