What did she say to Matthew?

Just as they brought Matthew out for his "alone" time to talk to Meredith, my silly TIVO stopped recording!
What excuse did she give him for asking for a ring, then bootin' him out the door???
How did he take it? Any other scoop I should know?
I love TIVO, but when the guide gets screwed up and my programs don't tape, I go into withdrawls. Help, please......

I can tell you this, watching him sit next to her was ALMOST as heartwrenching as watching last night
When Matthew asked Meredith about the ring situation she basically backpeddled and said "It was her way of finding out where HIS head was at" and he told her "I've always told you if you needed to know something, just ask...you KNEW that." (Even she agreed that she knew she could ask him and offered no other explanation to why she said that about the ring) Basically telling her that what she had just said was a cop out. She then told him that the last night they spent together (at her house) she already knew she was choosing Ian and that visibly hurt him to hear...he looked so sad. A caller asked Matthew if he felt Meredith had made the right choice and he answered " I really do because although Meredith and I had a strong connection, it was obvious watching her and Ian that they had something alot deeper". As always, Matthew was very classy but you could really tell that even 2 months later, he was still very heartbroken.

Thanks, sydally. Poor guy! I hope she made the right choice, but I don't see how Matthew could have been the wrong choice--he seems too good to be true!

Something about Meredith bugged me tonight too, everytime Matthew would ask a question (showing how hurt he still was) she was kind of..I don't know...stand-offish. Like how dare he still hurt when I am happy. Maybe I am feeling it out wrong, but that's how she came across to me. I just wanted to hug Matthew and tell him there is Mrs.Right out there for him!

Oh man you could see that Matt was still so torn up, he looked so close to tearing up a couple of times. I could not believe she told him she knew the last night that she was picking Ian - what a slap in the face for Matt if you ask me.

If she knew that she was picking Ian that last night, why did she string Matthew along? I know they have to give us twists and turns, but man! That's cold! She really hurt him. Too much "real" in reality, if you ask me......
She could have put a little doubt in his mind that last night...maybe softened the blow. You could tell he had no clue it was coming. And why would he? She ASKED him for a ring! Poor guy! I hope he can pick up, move on and trust someone else after this!

Am I the only one who thinks she WAS giving him clues? I thought it was so obvious she would pick Ian. He asked what she was thinking and she looked at him very pointedly and said "you're a smart guy....". All these "leading him on" comments crack me up. Haven't you ever watched the Bachelor? I felt bad the first time, but now everyone knows.

I'm going to have to stop reading these threads. It's driving me crazy!

Since she is from Portland, our local news has been doing "behing the scenes" interviews with her all along. She told a local reporter that she knew who she was going to pick BEFORE she went to each of the guys home towns. She stated that it was "torture" to go on the other two dates and do and say all she did but it was a "show" she had to finish.

Well apparently, you are the smartest person on earth. Because Stupid me, and I'm guessing 80% of America based on that poll on their website, took her saying "you're a smart guy...." as a BIG signal that Yup I'm going to pick you, don't worry about a thing, because you have picked up on my less than subtle comments/actions/words/and FAKE emotions!

It just all makes me mad!! If she knew who she was going to pick, why was she such a basket case? Crying, and saying she loved them both and she didn't want to pick... I think she really liked them both, and had to pick someone. Also, I think she wants Ian to think it was him the whole time, rather than admitting that she truly did care for Matthew too & did not want to choose. Unfortunately, her hormones picked Ian, rather than her heart.

However, did anyone notice the sweater she was wearing on her last "home-date" with Matthew? The type of clothing, clearly spoke volumes re: her choice... It was up to her eyeballs and baggy. Just reeked of, 'don't get near me & don't notice me'!
