I have tried all suggestions mentioned in this thread and then some. I have severe motion sensitivity. I get dizzy when I cut the lawn and have to circle a tree (literally). I can drive, but can not be a passenger without get nauseated.
For me, the meclizine (a.k.a. Bonine and non-drowsy Dramamine) best bang for the buck. It does make me drowsy. I take at night 2-3 days before a trip. I think this allows acclimatization of the drowsy side effect at the same time allowing the motion-sickness prevention to build up. I take 1/2 to 1 pill each night of the trip, depending on the type of rides for the next day. I still can not ride any simulators or spinning rides, but do fine on coasters, ToT etc.
The scopolamine patch also worked well for me but the inconvenience and cost of a Rx made it less desirable. Also, I did notice a slight amnesic effect. Nothing extreme. Just a lack of total recollection of the day's events. When I used the patch on a cruise, I didn't have vivid memories of much of the trip.
All the other stuff, is just gimmicky. Sea bands are worthless if you have any real level of motion sickness.
Ginger does not prevent motion sickness, but rather can reduce the nauseated feeling once you have it. It's a treatment, not preventative.
