Saw Pirates on Saturday - 12:30pm showing and the theatre was almost empty - wow what a long movie - too long I thought - Didn't like it as much as the others - thought there were too many long drawn out parts in it.
Heard the ride part when the screen went black though and thought that was cool.
I also thought they said this would be the last one..... they sure did seem to set it up for another movie though!

So what did everyone else think of it??

I still haven't seen the second one. heeheehee. S

I loved it and have seen it twice. The second time I enjoyed it even more. Picked out more detail.

Great fun.

I loved it... and so did DD-10 and DS-7. A little violent, but what isn't these days?

My DH fell asleep. Really disapointing. Too long, not enough action and not even enough of Will/Elizabeth/Jack together. Their chemistry really made the 1st movie.

I haven't seen it but dh took seven kids to see it on Saturday. Reviews were mixed. Some kids said it was good others said it was not as good as the first or second. I did see the first and second and found the second to be a little dark. I do agree with dsneygirl and agree that the chemistry was good for the movie and all kids agreed that was missing in the third.

My thoughts exactly! My favourite one is still the first movie. And when the screen went black, I was hoping we were being teleported to Disney World. :rotfl:

We saw it at the drive in on Friday night and I actually fell asleep during the first half of the movie I found it pretty boring and way way to long.

I loved it too and have seen it twice! It was long yes, but I got totally engrossed in all the twists and turns and was never bored.

I agree it was great fun and I do hope we have not seen the end of Captain Jack Sparrow!

dsneygirl - glad to see my dh wasn't the only one that fell asleep :lmao: :rotfl2:

Well let me just say when we came out of the theatre I had to ask my ds 15 what it was about  I was totally clueless.
I liked the first one the best but I did enjoy the special effects in this one. Forgot to stick around for the part after the credits too.

I LOVED that part! The POC ride has been my favourite long before the movies ever existed, but I dont think the couple making out next to me at the movies appreciated my over-excitement.

The movie was good, not as good as the original (but are movies ever?). Unfortunately, I was sitting the second row so towards the end of the movie, all I oculd think of was how much my head hurt.
I'll have to re-watch it when it comes out on DVD to give anyone a real review.

I thought it was great. I found it tied up a lot of loose ends. It did pave the way for perhaps another sequel. They may have been able to shave a bit but I found that the slower parts tied up the loose ends. We did agree however that there wasn't enough of Jack's drunken stuper induced ways to get into, then out of trouble. In 2 there was the barbeque, the falling into the grave then straight into the waterwheel, also the action was non- stop in 2. I think it spoiled us when 3 came along and was a longer version of 1.
Thought the wedding piece was great!

Here is a non POTC related story but funny nonetheless.

I was reading an article on sequels and they spoke of Bruckheimer I believe already purchasing the rights to the next book.... leading to a sequel perhaps.pirate:
Anywho I digress.... I was reading the article and they were saying that Shrek 4 was starting production and would be 2 years and that Spiderman 4 would be starting soon if I recall correctly. They were speaking to a person from SONY pictures who said " we don't think of Spiderman as sequels rather, we see them as another episode much like James Bond where they have a different movies every few years".
My immediate thought was, who let this spokesperson out of the closet? :confused3
I feel the best way to not make people think they are sequels would be to not number them. This is a novel approach that James Bond took. Rather than saying James Bond 28 they use say " Live and Let die" ... how unique. Being a former SONY employee, I can say that they do sometimes suffer from " foot in mouth disease"

I thought they should have left out some of the side plots and it would have been a lot better. I found the first half pretty boring.

We went to see it this past Saturday and I agree it was a little too long for me. We had our kids 4 and 6 and they loved it. But just because of Captain Jack and Davey Jones. I did like the humor of Captain Jack. "Nobody move I've lost my brain" that just cracked me up. Oh well I hope that if they do make another one it's half the length. But that's just my two cents. I missed the end part after the credits. I had to pee and they wouldn't let me back in after. I guess I will have to wait for the DVD.

For those who didn't stay until the end of the credits.....it's a real teaser! if there isn't another movie on deck I'll be shocked simply because they opened up a whole new can of worms with that after credit ending! Here's to hoping....I thought it was a blast but alas Elizabeth made her choice....not my choice...but hers! Good fun! Try not to take it too seriously everyone....after all it's not Star Wars!:thumbsup2
