We are not really looking hard. I like to buy blue jeans more when they are ready for wearing them due to growing and needing a different size each year.

DS will be joining a different group of students this year due to school closing/merging. Last year, towards the year of the year he asked for longer shirts due to the fact in PE his shirt would rise up and his belly would show - sheesh I wonder about him. That kid does not care about clothes. With that being said, he, DD and I went though his closet last week took out anything that would be too short, immature, or too funky. He lost all his disney underwear, he asked why? We shared "dude you must change in PE this year". We filled a bag and he really will not need more cloths to start, (I buy him stuff end of year clearance) He will need blue jeans in the fall. We did buy PE shoes on clearance Target. And at shoe carnival got brand name everyday pair for DD and a pair for DS less than $70.

DD will be high school this year, she is finally discovering clothes. We found jeans at Aeropostale $7.99. Camis to layer $3.99. Rest of clothes there 50% off. At debs a skirt additional 50% off, less than $8. Carson's had yellow dot brown cami and orange neonish jean jacket. We have a Farm and Fleet got blue jeans shorts there, cheaper than the other stores. Gap had 50% off entire store, found a sweatshirt, shirt and a clearance necklace. Mauries had clearance shirt for $6.95, yesterday I was too cheap to pay $22 for a cami from there.

So what are you finding?

I haven't started yet. Cleaning out the closet, yes - our community garage sale is the second weekend in August so July is the month of the purge around here - but it is still too early for school shopping.

Two of my three wear uniforms to school so they're easy to buy for - one piece of the very pricey plaid (skirt for older DD, jumper for younger) and the rest is khakis and polos from Old Navy/GAP. My high schooler hasn't expressed an opinion on anything other than shoes yet - he wants a pair of Vans to replace his somewhat beat, no-brand summer shoes, and a pair of 'good' running shoes for non-cleat sports practices. I'll probably end up spending more on those two pairs of shoes than in the whole rest of his wardrobe put together. We have an awesome teen/trendy resale nearby that only sells the "in" brands so I can usually get his jeans around $15-20/pair and tees for under $10.

My kids wear "uniforms" for public school, but the tops are just plain polo shirts and t-shirts (in elementary only) in the school colors. Bottoms can be denim, khaki or navy. My oldest is moving from elementary to middle school and had very few polos in elementary as he preferred the collar-less t-shirts, so I bought him about 5-6 from Lands End recently when they had a good sale. I think they were about $10 each? I also got a couple of new t-shirts for my younger son at the same time, $7. They both have plenty of denim and khaki shorts to last until October, when we usually buy jeans. A friend gave me a bunch of shirts for my youngest son, as they're moving and her son won't have to wear the uniform shirts anymore.

I just got my youngest a new pair of Nikes at the Nike outlet on clearance for $20. I have to get new sneakers for my oldest, too, but his will be more expensive because he wears men's shoes. I usually wind up spending $50-60 on his shoes.

I often buy the Sears jeans for my boys - they're hard on the knees and Sears will replace them in the same size under Kidvantage.

We are doing pretty well. I have weeded out a bunch of pants and shorts that DS will not wear, got rid of his shirts that do not fit. We picked up 2 bags of socks that were on sale at Target today, A few weeks ago he got a few clearance shirts and sweatshirts.

He needs new sneakers(of course he wants Nike) and some pants.

We have a tax holiday in 2wks so I am waiting for that! It doesn't get cold here until early Oct so I typically buy only 2 new outfits plus hoes for BTS.

I was in Old Navy today buying some things for my rapidly growing baby grandson, and noticed they had quite a lot of nice stuff on the clearance racks.

:scared1:Well thank goodness that is not on our BTS shopping list here! :rotfl:

OP, I started organizing my DS' drawers recently and realized I am not going to be doing a whole lot of school shopping this year. He has a drawer that is overflowing of just teeshirts. Most are rarely worn. Once the cool weather starts I'll need to invest in some clothes for him but not so much at the beginning of the school year. Although he definitely needs sneakers.

DD starts elementary school this year and I guess I finally need to start paying attention to the dress code. I've gotta remember to look up the rules on straps and sleeves. She has plenty of dresses that she lives in but most are halter, spaghetti strap or just a wider strap. Not sure if they are allowed or not.

Not looking forward to shopping for both this year.

Generally, on average, how much does a pair of kids' jeans go for at Sears? It's been a long while since I've priced stuff there, but the last time I did, it was something like 30 bucks for a pair. I usually get my kids' jeans at Children's Place, which runs about $12 a pair and they pretty much always have at least 15% off. I need to figure out what is a better deal between TCP and Sears including their Kidvantage because my kids are rough on their jeans too. :(

I haven't found a whole lot of clothes for a steal of a deal yet. At least not for my kids. I found some really comfy racer back tank tops for myself at JCP over the weekend for $5.60 marked down from $13. If you have a tween or teen to shop for, you might go check them out. Mostly, I've been stocking up on swimsuits for my kids and DH. Men's swim trunks are marked down to $9 and kids are $6 at Walmart.

I weeded through a lot of their clothes at the beginning of the summer so I have a fairly good idea of what they have. I do need to start looking for shoes though. Famous Footwear has a buy one get one half off sale going on right now. I only wish I knew how long that's going for because I'm not quite ready to buy shoes just yet...not for a couple more weeks. :(

My older girls wear uniforms to school. My youngest girl starts K this year. We have uniforms that still fit from last year. MIL got the girls new tennis shoes she found on clearance.
Old navy has a uniform sale. If you order online via swag bucks you get 6 for every dollar you spend.

Live in the south so shorts until Oct. Scored Gap jeans on sale free shipping at 25% off. We can start off with last years jeans only bought because they were his next size up and we hate faded slouchy jeans. Weeding through some tops he is moving towards clothes more sports oriented. We need shoes. Hitting outlets on vacation on Sunday. Have $25 Nike gift card to use there. We are using our same book bag and lunchbox, buying up school supplies. Also bought 3 Puma tops for 75% off. Need some new socks, dress shoes for church and navy dress slacks for church. Need to finalize my shopping list tomorrow before we head out on vacation Friday.

Sear's no longer has their kidvantage program. It's a bummer because it saved us a ton of money. My son went thru 3 pairs of shoes in 1 school year and they weren't cheap shoes.

I don't start until about Columbus day. My kids wear their summer clothes for the first month or so. Few classrooms here are air conditioned, and September can be brutally hot.

My kids do very well in Aeropostale; there's always a sale. And, believe it or not, we find lots of bargains at Hollister. (But I hate how dark that store is!!!!) They almost always have stuff marked way down.

And I love Kohls and JC Penney.

My younger son wore a 6S last year, so I bought the Toughskins for about $12/pr. My older son is more in the size 14-16 range and I got Canyon River or whatever for maybe $18?

I also get jeans at Target for my younger son - I forgot the brand name, but they hold up well and only run about $10 or less. Wrangler Gold, maybe?

When did they stop Kidvantage? I know I exchanged a pair of holey-knee jeans sometime in the Spring and they didn't tell me it was defunct.

I don't usually buy back-to-school clothes for my kids until Oct when it cools off. Its just scorching until then with temps over 100 degrees all thru Aug and Sept.

They did pick out new shoes and backpacks on Kohls.com with my 30% off coupon this past week. We are passed the lunchbox stage. DS never brings a lunch anymore, only buys and DD just uses her old plain one.

Last year they didn't even need new backpacks as theirs were still in pretty good condition. Those lasted 2 years so they got new ones for the upcoming year.

In Oct, I will buy 3 pair of jeans for each. DS refuses to wear long sleeved shirts in the winter and usually he can get away with that as the few coldest days we have are in the 40's ( and that is rare). Usually the winter days are highs in the 60's. So I don't buy long sleeve for him anymore as they just hang in his closet. He'd rather wear a short sleeve tee with a hoodie.

Their hoodies are all like new. So we may not even need those this year.

DS will need basketball shorts and shoes for bb season in the fall but I will wait on those.

Its nice when the kids get older and their clothes now last more than a year as they aren't growing as quickly anymore. DS has shot up so much in the last year so he probably will need new jeans but DD is pretty much the same and can probably wear last years.

Aww damn, that's too bad. :(
I just Google Kidvantage. The first link that comes up is from Sears and it says it was discontinued as of July 14, 2012. Purchases made after June 1, 2012 no longer gets covered.

I have an order on its way from Aeropostale. I got 2 bras, 3 shirts, and a pair of jeans for $28 shipped. I don't know if the jeans will fit but I think having them in my cart was the reason I got free shipping, so they were pretty much free. I can take them to the consignment if they don't work.

Yesterday we went to Goodwill. The girls have recently gotten into cutting and revamping t-shirts so we went there to look for cheap shirts. They got 16 shirts for $42. DD11's favorite find was a Shawn Johnson autographed tee...she loves her.

In a couple of weeks the local consignment will have a bag sale where you can fill a plastic sack for $7 or a paper grocery bag for $12. I never miss it.

The hardest part is jeans. DD11 is hard to fit in the seat and thighs...I am hoping the Aero ones work- they are curvy style. The super cheap jeans were all 0's but I did find a 1/2 so I have my fingers crossed that they are big enough. Her shorts this summer run anywhere from a girls 12 to a juniors 5 so who knows what size she is! I found that a certain style and size of Silver jeans works good on DD14 so I have a saved search on eBay and buy them when they don't go too high. Nice when you know a specific style name that always works.

DD11 should clean out her shirt drawer- some I'm sure are too small, but she still likes them! She is getting a big closet later this year so she says no need to clean out ;)

I checked with my one nephew (brother, I and our mother buy most of the twins clothing) but he didn't think he needed anything, but he said he'd let us know.

He saw some pants at a local store but we have to check online as they only had down to a 30 waist and he is a 28, but we have to get all his clothes in one place and see what he has that fits in his new school, and what still fits his rapidly changing teen body.

(he is switching from prep school to a smaller public system, he has to go get his clothes from his mom's house switched over to dad's house so we can see what he actually has prep had a dress code public has a more lax code)

His twin brother is staying at his current prep school (and supposedly with his mother) and should be able to use most of last years school appropriate clothing if not then his mom or her sister will buy some and if not then we'll buy his as well, but I doubt I buy him any clothes before Christmas.

Just hit the Gap Outlet for jeans and pants for 50% off plus I have a coupon for an add'l 10% off. And then I had Gymbucks so I got bunch of jeans there too. He got new Nikes and black socks, since that is what all the boys are wearing, a couple of weeks ago. And he still has plenty of shirts (1/2 with price tags still on them) so I think we are all set for clothes. Just need a new backpack and lunch box and we are finished.

Update DD went to the outlet mall with a friend and picked up 2 pair of sneakers for DS at the Nike store. One was a pair of skate shoes marked down to $20 the other were hightops for $50. The $50 pair was over budget for me however where we live peer presure is brutal and a good number of families are very well off. At least he has not gotten into the Nike socks.

I look at it as 2 pair for $70 and name brand too. I hope I do that well this weekend at the Nike outlet. We have the socks on our list.
