We are wanting to take a family cruise sometime between Oct - Dec but I won't know when I can go until last minute (work obligations). Any idea on what routes are traditionally discounted during this time period and when the discounts start to appear? Thanks!

I'm not sure they offer last minute discounts unless you're DVC or a Florida resident. I say this because we sailed last November, and I kept an eye on prices as the cruise got closer (the rate didn't change much). I assumed it meant that the cruise would be full. However, once we sailed, we realized that the boat was only 2/3 of the way full - there empty cabins everywhere! There were a lot of older DVC members on board that said they got a great deal, but didn't hear that from anyone else.

We booked a VGT 7 day Fantasy Western Caribean cruise in Sept last year for the last week in October during actual Halloween. I think we paid $2,380 for 2 adults in a balcony room including fees. It was a great deal & we had a great time with wonderful weather.

Reduced rates (if they are offered - not all cruises have them) typically don't come out until after the Paid in Full date for any given cruise.

You can check out this thread for a past history of what rates were available when:

GT rates were offered pretty much every cruise Oct-Dec in 2013 and 2014. I have even seen them Thanksgiving and Christmas week. A lot of other discounts were offered during that time period also. Our cruise the first week of Dec was pretty empty even with all the discounts.

We had our choice of October sailings when we went last year. Lots of *GT rates. But based on how full the ship was.... .yikes.
